“A really neat museum with lots and lots of tractors and related machinery. It's nice on Free Museum Day as they have extras (like running motors out front, cotton candy, and popcorn) but isn't super busy still. I wish it had more exhibits/information about crops grown in California and how early farmers grew crops without a lot of machinery. But it has a ton of cool tractors.”

“Local gem of a museum teaching about area people and natural history. Adjacent to Seabright beach so bring a picnic lunch and make a beach day of it. Outdoor amphitheater. Don’t miss the touch pool inside and life size whale replica outside. Perfect for climbing. Limited hours and street parking. Entrance fee unless a member. School groups welcome.”

“i was a bit underwhelmed as one area of the museum was closed off for a future addition. we were luckily able to visit for free because it was a sunday afternoon as a walk up. the other rooms did have some interesting exhibits but it really did feel small but looked huge from the outside. i felt like the gift shop was a little too big in size as well. the highlight has to be the sculpture garden which also had some empty spaces for some more pieces. i would like to visit again in the future but i'll wait a few years before that next time.”

“We noticed some huge sheet metal sculptures from the highway, and decided to check it out. There is a $10 fee to enter the sculpture garden, but in exchange you get a small artwork to take with you, or a credit toward the purchase of a larger piece. There are works by seven different artists displayed. I was amazed, and glad we stopped by. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the prices are not posted, although it was interesting talking with the gentleman there about the artworks while getting the price information.”

“California's overlooked museum and underrated as well. This place of historical significance was amazing. Our tour guide is George and he was a wealth of information from each and every door, stairway, and room. No pets allowed but fantastic job by the friendly and well trained staff!! If I could give more than five stars I would. Thanks again George!!!!”

“The San Diego Archaeological Center is small so you can see everything in about 15 minutes or take about an hour to read everything on every display. I was the only person in the Center for most of the time I was there. I thought the Center was interesting and I learned a few things. On the other hand, I think most kids would be bored there – no whales or dinosaurs, just thousand-year-old pottery, donut stones, arrowheads, and 125-year-old bottles. The Center asks for a $5 donation.”

“Great local museum. Of note this museum consists of several out buildings that you have to walk between. This makes for a very hot experience on a warm summer day. Thank goodness they sold cold bottled root beer for $2 which helped keep moral high. The grounds are loose gravel and sand. You can see all the exhibits in about an hour. The kid's favorite was panning for gold. You can purchase a small vial in the gift shop for 50 cents to bring some "gold" aka fool's Gold, home with you. All of the volunteers at the museum were incredible! Such a wealth of knowledge and interesting facts they really made the experience.”

“Fascinating place! Back in 1993 workers at the landfill discovered fossilized mammoth bones. That sparked paleontologists to start digging and now they found over 1000 fossilized bones from several different species. The museum is very educational. Great place for kids and a lot of the exhibits are hands-on. And on the weekends you can even go dig for fossils in their mock fossil pit.”

“First rate, hands-on science center and astronomy observatory. They have regular events focused on children, both daytime and nighttime. There's two large telescopes for visual observations of the planets and stars, they have free viewings every Friday. There's also a very nice planetarium as well as a theater where you can see movies and shows check the schedule for what's on this week. Food, drinks, bathrooms, gift shop. Sufficient parking nearby. It's a wonderful drive up to the top of the Oakland hills, wonderful views of the night sky. Oakland is lucky to have such an excellent facility.”

“This is my second time to check out Kahuna Art Museum. I enjoyed the show this time… but there’s no impression for my first visit. This time, they have a graduate exhibition from LCAD which is pretty good. And Francis portrait exhibition is great as well. The basement, they have Jean Lowe’s show which is my favorite, it is so fun and amazing to check it out.”
