“Great spot to camp, not too far from home but far enough from the busy city life. Reasonable nightly fees, camp sites are spacious and good distance between neighboring sites. Several hiking trails, beautiful views. It does get chilly at night and critters are so used to humans they will walk up to your site and snatch what they like :D Fills up quickly so reserve in advance.”

Rincon Parking Lot, Henry Cowell SP

Address: CA-9, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, USA

Park

“This is my personal favorite spot on the San Lorenzo River. The trail is very steep, as the parking lot is far above the river. Once you get to the bottom, the trail goes by several spots along the river that are all very enjoyable. The one closest to the trailhead is a bit stagnant, but it is deep and good for jumping. Further down the trail, the river forks in two at a deep pool with an old ruined concrete structure. But my favorite spot is in between, where the two forks come back together in an area that's great for wading and sitting in the stream. I've been coming here for years and I still highly recommend it.”
