“This is the best rose garden I have visited in north America. It is even better than the rose garden at Huntington (gasp!). The roses are mixed with other plants so the color pallet is very dramatic. The garden up keep is the best I have seen and a hearty congratulations goes to the volunteers.”

San Dieguito River Park

“Had no idea this hiking trail was even here. This trail is perfect for any type of hiker. If you are the trail runner this is a nice trail to come and get a scenic run in while enjoying a ocean breeze. Cor those with kids, it is a flat hiking trail so strollers can easily wheel through although some spots on the trail are a little narrow so if people are coming the opposite direction may need to wait till they run by. For anyone just looking to enjoy a nice walk this would be recommended.”

Looking after a small dog for family at first we were hesitant but all the owners watched their dogs and made it easy to stroll along in the water. Would highly recommend this place even if you have a family take the dog and kids with you . It was awesome”

Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve

Park

“The Elfin Forest was Elfin hot ????! Awesome place lots of other trails to check out. Beautiful views of Lake Hodges and the reservoir. Really nice places for resting up have some water and a snack and getting out the sun. Lots of beautiful views of the mountain ranges and other trails to the east. Free parking and facilities! Definitely want to come back and check out some of the other trails. Lots of hikers and mountain bikers. Trails are marked very well and are maintained very well. My friend tells me that the park ranger there is pretty strict so watch where you hike or bike. There are areas that are closed and signs are posted. I would recommend getting there right when they open or during cooler temperatures or weather. If you go out while the sun is blazing like we did and got there a few minutes after they opened. Bring plenty of water it is enjoyable just make sure you douse yourself in sun screen and a giant hat. The sun was pretty brutal today. But go out and check it out for yourselves, get out there and gain some ground!”
