“Great park to hike! Hills are challenging and once you get to the top (not even a mile) there are fantastic views. I took my children and we found a wonderful tree to play under, complete with a swing. I could easily spend every day at this park, it's beautiful!”

“Regional park. Plenty of parking, special area for horse trailers. Nice trails mostly in the shade. Allows bikes, hikers, and horseback riders. No dogs! Watch out for snakes in summer.”

“Nice park with a big open field. There is a smaller playground for the smaller kids and a larger one for the bigger kids. It's usually pretty clean as well. It is connected to one of the bike paths which is great, but it also bring in some foot traffic of others who choose to hang out at the park to smoke, etc.”

“There are so many great things I can say about this place. I won a hunt through cwa and took my son for his first hunt. We arrived late due to passing storm and the women at the desk totally understood. Got all checked in and she explained everything. Went and picked up our rented dog "gunner" (who was amazing) It was a steady drizzle the entire time we were out but still managed to get one bird. I felt successful because my goal was to take him out, watch the dog work, and hopefully get a bird. We went to turn in our dog and the sweet lady I think felt bad the we only got one. I let her know we wanted to turn it in for a smoked one. That is when I think the owner offered us 3 smoked birds! A great experience all the way around and definitely worth the 2 hour drive! Definitely where we will bird hunt this fall.... ❤????❤”

“West park is a community center with a gymnasium, sports fields, 2 playgrounds, nice cement path, tetherball poles and has a large cement play area too. It's next to Sheridan Way elementary and the skate park. The bike trail runs right behind it and there is access. There is nice large grass area and a picnic bench. The playgrounds have soft padding underneath. One side has toddler swings and the other side has big kid swings.”

“We stayed a week here and it was not as bad as everyone makes it seem it’s really nice and very clean people are friendly and helpful staff and always doing events for kids and families... yes it’s by the freeway but it’s not bad because we played music and didn’t hear much the only thing that we didn’t like was there was a small restroom and shower there need to be more for the amount of people that are there but other then that it’s a very beautiful place (if your going to the beach exit and go left and follow the bike trail it’s faster and a nicer spot)”

“Stunningly beautiful and pristine slice of native California coastal land. Great place to just lose yourself for a few hours (or days, apparently, as I saw a few tents). Sandy beaches, dunes with driftwood and flowering plants, the occasional train coming by, and also a river mouth. Lots of bird life around too. This is just a taste of some of Central and Northern California's wild and wonderful coastline, but it is also easily accessible if you live in the area. I'm not sure of the exact laws here, but I did build a driftwood fire one night and no one bothered me about it...just sublime. To those that complain about the homeless there, I didn't see any real trash, so it must have been cleaned up. I did see a few tents and a few grungy people who kept a very low profile and didn't bother me in the least. I mean, Ventura is a town full of grungy people so it goes with the territory, but they aren't dangerous or rude...at all. I know the area, it is not a concern and again, I saw very little garbage that hadn't just washed up in the tide. There are no beaches in the world that don't have garbage on them these days, even in the South Pacific, by the way.”

“Surprisingly well controlled, diverse people but if anybody starts detract from others' experience there will be a large response to move them along. Hilariously large with many city departments involved... The nearby dog beach is a lot of fun if you have a well-behaved dog or just like dogs randomly running up to you as you walk in the water. Neither of the electric car chargers in the parking lot work.”
