“Very shady and lots of field area. Theres a track that goes around the park, benches to rest, 3 picnic tables in the shade of the trees, and a play area seperated for age groups. We love this park!”

FamCamp

Address: 201 Travis Ave, Travis AFB, CA 94535, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We are very happy with this FamCamp. It's conveniently located (walking distance to the School, BX, Class Six, Commissary, Starbucks, Burger King, and Parks). There are lots of trees and the place is clean. Every RV site has a concrete pad. They stay on residents to clean up after pets. It's quiet (with the exception of gate traffic and planes taking off sporadically). I have no complaints. They upped the rate to $22 per night, but still a steal considering it includes water, electric, and free cable. Washers & Dryers available (3 of each). There are also clean community showers & restrooms. They also have a water station to refill 5 gallon jugs of filtered water. Wish we could stay longer than 90 days at a time!”

Duck Pond

Address: 161-167 Collins Dr, Travis AFB, CA 94535, USA

“One of the gems of TAFB. A beautiful peaceful place to run or walk. My only suggestion would be for a few doggie stations to be installed.”

Reyes Peak Campground

Address: Pine Mountain Ridge Rd, Maricopa, CA 93252, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“This campround is one of a kind, at 7000 ft this was one hell a hike. I I started my one-night backpacking trip at the Chorro grande trailhead down off the 33, I ascended through typical chaparrel that turns into switchbacks up the steep mountain. It eventually turns to a conifirous forest and ends on the paved Reyes peak campround. The campground has amazing views that span the Ventura coast and back towards the Cuyama Badlands.”

McGrath State Beach and Campground

Address: Oxnard, CA 93036, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“35$ a night typical camping rates. Close to nearly private beaches. We got here late, around 1:30 on a Saturday and there was still around 10 spots to choose from. There's clean flushing toilets and hot showers for 50 cents for 2 minutes. So far so good. There's a ton of dumpsters close by so for us, that was a plus. No bugs or scary wildlife to worry about. The neighbors were friendly and all felt safe. Overall, I really liked this campground. Mostly it was because of how clean the bathrooms were. They get a daily cleaning at around 6am and smell like bleach. Only thing that was a negative was there was no water spickets to get washing water for dishes. Otherwise a very cool place to camp.”

Santa Clara Estuary Natural Preserve

Address: Oxnard, CA 93036, USA

Park

“Beautiful preserve, good birding. Home to threatened and endangered species. Dogs are not allowed here.”

Mandalay State Beach

Address: N Harbor Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93036, USA

Park

“The Mandalay beach area is a nice area for enjoying a day at the beach. The area has a lot of parking and a lot of space. There is a short 10 minute walk between the park and the beach. Mandalay Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach facing the Channel Islands. It is rarely crowded and offers a beautiful beach walk around the beach and the neighboring Embassy Suites. Not much in the way of facilities however.”

Oxnard Beach Park

Address: 1601 Harbor Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93035, USA

Park

“Great area, from the playground to the water. Great long park with a ton of grass, and plenty of sand to the water too. The area reminds me of BuenaVentura Beach with the small hills to go over from the parking lot to the water. They have a concrete pathway that leads you all the way to a good depth into the beach sand. Between the sand hills there are spots you can stay in that are a tiny bit secluded and slanted too.”

Cesar Chavez Park

Address: 1449 Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy, San Diego, CA 92101, USA

Park

“Nice spot to take pictures, little walk down the pier. Bathrooms aren't that clean, but they did have soap. Yes the people that don't have homes, will sometimes hangout at the tables, but I only see 1-2 people and they don't ask for anything. Well in my experiences there. Usually some type of sport or activity is going on in the grass area. Overall chill park.”

Mathewson Park

Address: 700 Pomona Ave, Coronado, CA 92118, USA

“This is another Coronado triangular park it does have a children’s playground for swings and area to play volleyball. There is free parking along the perimeter and there are two park benches to sit in. The grass is spongy and perfect for soccer lacrosse flag football or any other outdoor games. Not particularly dog friendly the dogs are not prohibited. You can bring your dog here there are trash cans for waste disposal though there aren’t any doggy pick up bags. There is a drinking fountain here for adults but not dogs.”

Vetter Park

Address: 1612 Cajon Pl, Coronado, CA 92118, USA

Park

“This is a fairly small triangular park with one bench for three people and a set of two kids swings. There are no dog amenities here. No water bowl no drinking fountains for humans and no other playground equipment. Cool place to set up some volleyball or soccer or lacrosse. It’s about 200‘ x 200‘ x 200‘. The grass is nice and spongy flag football would be great too.”
