Located in the Source Hotel, this restaurant is described as Israeli or stylish, modern Middle Eastern. I have heard a lot the place, I sat at the bar to try it out. I started with a lovely cocktail called Language of Flowers. It was small but delicious. It was suggested that I try whipped feta and Tunisian Tomato Hummus. Their pita is house made daily. Everything tasted great. I was too full to have a main plate, so I might have to come back.
This restaurant is generally for those with a sophisticated palate and deep pockets. There is also a 4% kitchen appreciation fee added to the tab. Wait staff was attentive and friendly.
First time visiting yesterday. The food quality and taste were beyond any expectations I had! The whipped feta was delicious. The real winner of the restaurant is their Tahini hummus with freshly made pita, I have never been floored by hummus before. The plates are of a generous size. We were a group of 4 and ordered 2 appetizers + 4 entrees, and barely had space for dessert. Can’t wait to go back!
Having grown up in southeast Michigan, I have been spoiled by excellent middle eastern and Mediterranean food. Safta offers many traditional regional dishes in an elevated manner. It’s a simple, friendly presentation bursting with flavor. The staff are all lovely and attentive. As far as what to try, I’m pretty sure we sampled about 1/3 of the menu, so… everything? Anything? We shared everything - with four of us, we were very happy! I don’t think there is a wrong choice!
The food at Safta is delicious. I would say the best option is to get the pita and various dips. Some of the entrees that are considered family style are a little on the smaller side to share.
The only thing that needs a bit of improvement is the service. We came on a Wednesday around opening and there wasn't a ton of people there but a lot of staff. It took about 10 to 15 minutes after being seated to have someone ask for our drink order and another 10 or so for the drinks to show up.
It seemed like other tables were receiving a bit more priority than ours. Once we received food we had to wait again to get more drink orders in or to get more pita. Overall the food is great if you're willing to wait.
Amazing!!!! All of the dishes are delicious! Highly recommended place! As an Israeli - everything made great and correct, by following the right national Israeli recipes. Enjoyed this place a lot!
Hummus is a must! Kebab and falafel - even better than in Israel !
