One of the best spots in the park. Easy walking access to the beautiful but tragic remains of the flood. A longer hike takes you high up with great views of the eastern section. Worth the trip.
This place is a blast to explore. There are all sorts of rocks and boulders to see. And my favorite thing is climbing up river as far as possible. Bring shoes with good grip. Go barefoot on some of the boulders, which feels amazing.
The alluvial fan is incredible to see. It’s just a short walk from the parking area and definitely worth getting out the car and checking out! There is a placard that more adequately explains how this happened but basically a lake dam broke in the 80s and flooded the valley, scattering these rocks down the hill - cool to see the aftermath of the power of nature.
Great short trail that allows easy access to the Alluvial Fan. It is a blast climbing and having fun on the boulders. The flow from the snow melt was really high so we weren't able to cross on the boulders, luckily it's a short drive to the other side. It is currently under construction for a handicap accessible trail and new bridge.
If your looking for a great place to spend time exploring, this is one of those places.
This Elk was just chilling along the roadside and was very photogenic.
