“I had been searching for a diagnosis for more than 8 months. I was struggling with severe fatigue, chronic pain and a loss of mobility. I had been to so many doctors that wanted to do unnecessary and invasive tests and procedures. I got a referral to rheumatology by my PCP and the first doc I saw was rude, unsympathetic and dismissed symptoms. I asked the staff at the UC health how to find a different provider and they set me up the next day to see Dr.Howe. She was absolutely wonderful. She gave me an exam and a diagnosis. She told me the unfiltered truth about the degenerative nature of my illness, but also gave me a lot of hope for how to manage it. She spent most of our appointment giving me advice and answering questions and she stayed in the room with me until she was satisfied that I understood what my next steps were. She was incredibly kind, and let me know that if I need her help in the future to just call and make an appointment. She gave me resources I had been looking for for so long and referrals for pain management. I am eternally grateful to Dr.Howe for her help, and knowing that I am always welcome back if needed makes me feel like I am not doing this alone.
