“Beautiful and impressive place for hiking. There are many trails to choose and the park is huge, so definitely everyone will find something fitting - easy, medium or a bit harder trail. Rock formations are not so big like in Garden of the Gods, but for nature lovers surely great because of variety of shapes. Even experienced hiker will be busy for few days to be able to say that he saw everything. For me it's the best park in Colorado Springs.”

Pueblo West Campground

Campground Rv park Park Lodging

“Lived here for over 3 years as a war era veteran in transition from homelessness - after a hit and run driver almost killed me over 5 years ago.... .... after I stopped in to tell them my story and inquire about prices, Gina made sure that I was on the reservation list for a cabin. (I had just gotten a job at Goodwill, but was living in my pickup truck). After a few months of living in my truck (in winter) & working at Goodwill, Gina called me with the news of an available cabin! I was sure I had been forgotten (like all the other times), BUT NO!! - Pueblo West Campground is run by people who really care about people.... Pueblo West Campground is currently under updates and improvements all across the property. I see major investments in all of the grounds & facilities - and it shows. Pueblo West Campground is a nice RV park that also has horse boarding, a bicycle & motocross track, a quiet & safe environment, with a strong "neighborhood watch" security, - and shopping just a walk away.... If you're passing through, check them out. No disappointments. Right on the foothills of the Rocky mountains. A 1/2 hour from the campground & full of the local history of the West, Canyon City's Great River Gorge is a place to explore, take stunning pictures, aircraft scenic tours, zip lining or skydiving at the Gorge! Colorado Springs & Pike's Peak are 1/2 hour away, but if you want to stay local, there is bicycle/hiking trail access from the RV park. Pueblo Lake State Park allows awesome days or weekends on the water, on the trails and bike paths, with camping available as well. While there, make sure to go to the Liberty Point Memorial for veterans that is located above the lake with stunning scenic vistas in every direction. A beautiful area summer or winter, good, trustworthy people, a VERY dedicated staff, and your choice of a slow, relaxing stay - or exciting extreme fun in the area's many venues...well worth your stay!”

Paradise Cove / Guffey Gorge

Address: 13999 Main St, Guffey, CO 80820, USA

Park

“Such a beautiful hike from start to finish! It's a short distance but definitely moderate, especially if you're not used to rocky terrain. Good shoes are a must! We spent an afternoon here and absolutely loved it! It was May and we only saw a few other people who stayed for a short time. There are bathrooms by the parking lot as well which is a nice plus! The payment situation was a bit frustrating but that was on us for not researching before going. We didn't have service there to do the scan and pay and also didn't have exact change or a pen. We eventually met some nice strangers, found a pen, and over paid with whatever cash we had on hand. Still, I can't recommend this hike enough! It's truly serene and beyond worthwhile! 🙌🏻”

Long enough that you can get a workout in, but easy enough that you don’t need to break a sweat if you don’t want to. Definitely hope to come back many times, especially in the different seasons!”

Boulder Valley Ranch Trailhead

“The trail head is at the end of a well maintained dirt road with parking spaces for about ten vehicles. There's a pit toilet that's as clean as they come and a post board with maps and information. I was here for stargazing with an astrophysicist and a group of other tourists so I didn't hike much on the trail.”

Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun

Address: 4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, USA

Park

“Great view, the guide was super nice and knowledgeable. First let me say it kind of annoys me that the zoo doesn’t tell anyone about this place or advertise in anyway. If you buy a ticket for the Zoo you can pass through the gate to go to the Shrine. If you have 4 people in the car you have to have 4 Zoo tickets though. Also your Zoo ticket is good for 2 weeks to go to the Shrine. I wish i knew that before buying one on Monday and again on Thursday. The Shrine is very well cared for, they maintain the road up even in the winter months. There are clean restrooms in the building in the parking lot. The drive up is not scary just go slow and watch for cars coming around the narrow corners. The view is so cool! Ask the guide questions, it was so great chatting and learning from him. He pointed out all the sights that have plaques and explained a lot to me. It’s called the Shrine of the Sun because it is the first point the sun hits as it raises and the last thing as it sets. So cool. The stairs are not bad at all, there is a landing at each level to pause if you need to go slow and catch your breath. The shrine plays music every 15 mins and a whole song at certain hours each day. Such at fun little thing to do if you are already at the Zoo, don’t miss it.”
