I loved Daniel's story that helps kids understand what it felt like to go through the Holocaust. The building was clean and well set up. The architecture of all parts were well thought out. We were impressed with the size and amount of information available. We visited on a holiday weekend, so it was very crowded.
I have been here twice. The first time I went there I was strong enough to explore the entire museum. The last time I went there I just couldn't handle being there. There was the sound of people from holocaust crying on the TV, and I recalled everything from the last trip. I realized I won't be able to walk through it again and left. However , it is one of the greatest museums I have ever been to. Peace out. Let's be kind to each other.
I visited for free while in DC for the marathon over the weekend. I was able to have the honor of talking to a holocaust survivor. I saw a couple of the secondary exhibits and was only able to see about 1/4 of the main exhibit in the nearly 3 hours I was there. I wish I had time to see more as everything was very well done and interesting. I had to leave to grab lunch well before I could finish seeing everything. I loved the place.
Very powerful museum. Well laid out, keeps the flow of the crowd moving at a nice pace. So much to read and videos to watch. You are not rushed along and can take your time. We only spent a few hours, but could have spent several more. If You want to really see and read all, I would say dedicate at least 4 hours.
Very very intriguing and moving one of the best museum in DC. They give you a book of someone from holocaust to go through the museum with and know their personal story. You can get the timed tickets right in front of the building and yes their free however you only need them May to Aug 31st their busiest season. The engraving if you want to see how money is printed is right behind the Holocaust ticket booth and can pick your times for a tour. I recommend during summer months get there before or right when their opening up. The easiest parking we found which is very limited is Regan building close to the white house and is reasonable
