So many gators! We love the drive here and had to splurge for the annual pass. So worth it to come back again and again just for the cost of about 3 visits.
Very nice visitor information center with a broadwalk nature trail attached. Drive a few miles down the road for a driving nature trail on the Florida's birding trail. Cost is a nominal $10. Pay at visitor center or honor system, cash only, at kiosk at entrance.
GORGEOUS park for nature watching and enjoying the beauty of Florida. I've been here several items and every time I totally love it. There is so much wildlife and birds to watch at this park. If you are in the area, you should go here.
We are never disappointed when we drive down to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. The visitors center offers many educational opportunities and they have a nice gift shop as well. The nature walk is nice. It is definitely worth the drive and time required. I'm always amazed with all the animals we see during the drive in and the nature walk.
Interesting visitor center. Informative exhibits and movie about the wildlife refuge and its relationship to the space program. Easy boardwalk hike out back. Both this time and when visiting ten years ago we saw armadillos while on this walk. The Black Point Wildlife drive takes you through various habitats with easy viewing of the numerous water bird species that inhabit the area. Usually, a gator or two can be seen.
This national wildlife refuge surrounds the kennedy space center. Since the area is huge, it is recommended you drive to the visitor's center to get some information and maps. There is a hiking loop trail that is not far from the visitor's center.
