Animal Emergency Hospital DeLand

Sunday evening my 1 year old Chiweenie pup started throwing up and quickly started getting more and more sick. She was having a lot of abdominal pain and couldn't keep anything down, so first thing Monday morning I took her to our normal vet. They believed it was an intestinal blockage and referred us here for emergency surgery.

Upon arrival the vet looked over her scans and informed me that she could not clearly see a foreign body and that they would like to stabilize her and wait 12 hours, while monitoring her condition, then do another set of scans to determine is surgery was absolutely necessary. I dropped her off with them, and they stayed in contact with me throughout the day. Fortunately, it turned out not to be a blockage, and surgery wasn't required. The officially diagnosed her with HGE, an infection in the intestinal tract, and they got her on antibiotics and fluids. She came home last night after an overnight stay feeling much better and today is back to her normal, playful, happy self.

The facility is newer, very nice, clean, and well kept, and all the staff that I dealt with were extremely kind, professional, and personable. They did an excellent job keeping me informed while my pup was in their care, and I am extremely grateful that they took the time to ensure they had the proper diagnosis before rushing to surgery, preventing my pup unnecessary pain, recovery, and saving me a significant amount of money and undue financial stress.

While I hope to not need to have to bring my pets to an emergency doctor, it is comforting knowing this place is close to home, and I would definitely refer others to them should the need arise.

This emergency vet is spectacular! Unfortunately this was my third visit here within a year- twice with my cat when he had a urinary blockage, and today with my tortoise when he got bit by a dog.

The staff are always kind and compassionate, and provide frequent updates while you’re onsite waiting as well as regular updates if your pet needs to be hospitalized overnight. I have never felt like I was being oversold or overcharged, and have always been given a clear picture of my course of treatment options.

I hope you never need it, but if you do- highly recommend Animal Emergency Hospital DeLand!

Though unfortunately I was unable to leave with my kitten and it was absolutely horrific circumstances, this ER is amazing. Everyone was so kind, thoughtful, and helpful. They were extremely thorough with my options on how to proceed and when I was saying goodbye they were extremely kind and let me take all the time I needed (which was a while). Thank you to all the staff for being amazing especially at such a tough, sad, and stressful job ❤️ thank you for all you do. I know my girl, Eggs, thanks you all as well ❤️❤️❤️

I’m sad to see so many negative reviews especially since most of them are just from people who don’t understand how vet med, especially er med works. You guys just keep doing what you are doing, you are the best ❤️

Last December I was online when I was told about Dr. Bolfer. I’d taken my dog to two other vets and both said she likely wouldn’t live out the week. When Dr. Bolfer saw her, she was, “mostly dead” —sicker than she’d ever been and struggling to breathe. He sent us home with medication and I fully expected she wouldn’t survive the night. But like the line goes, “Mostly dead is slightly alive.” That morning she wasn’t “all dead,” and by the next day she was markedly improved—I couldn’t believe my eyes. I can’t thank Dr. Bolfer and his staff enough. As far as I’m concerned, it was nothing short of a miracle—right out of movie

I brought my dog in on a Saturday night with a bleeding ear. He was currently being treated for a infection in that ear but it obviously wasn’t working. Dr. Lemanski took the time to check out the ear really well and found a large mass that the other vet hadn’t found even though she had been treating his ear for over a month. I am very grateful to the entire staff for the care Buster received.
