“This is great health care for those without insurance. Very affordable, most people apply to Broward County for a Star card (Not giving card anymore, the setup is the same.) Bad thing is you will wait all day long, for ANYTHING, but the care is the same as you get with paid health insurance. The referalls are top shelf but the wait is worse than the Army. Hurry up and wait all day. Bring bag of food, reading material, you will need it. They are grossly understaffed and just lost their best doctor, Dr. Headland. Only doc left is Dr. Brown and she cares more about her lipstick and getting out of the place than the patients she sees. I waited 6 months to get a podiatrist referral and then waited 6 hours on location to see Dr. Brown. She would not give me 10 minutes with her. I had a super painful big toe nail but she would not allow me to take off sneaker or show her. Once Dr. Brown is history, it may become a good place again. I really miss Dr. Headland because she really did give a dam.”

“I have been to VA hospitals in many different states and this one is by far the best. The staff is great in all the clinics that I have been seen. They genuinely care about your health and treat the veterans like the country’s most valuable treasure. It is easy to come here and post a derogatory comment because perhaps something didn’t go my way but that would be an injustice to this VA. I read a stupid comment about doctors being all Hispanics and if you are white you don’t get treated well. This is B.S. I have been here for 2 years now and I have doctors that are black, white, Indian, middle eastern, no Hispanics yet but that is ok. They have all been great. The only thing that keeps me in the Orlando area is this VA. That’s how good it is. One more thing, unless it’s an emergency, opt to have your medication shipped to you. You will receive them in about three days. This is something they have improved on since I registered here. I only tell you this because sometimes the line at the pharmacy can get quite long and it takes a while for the pharmacy to confirm your prescription on the system and you might find yourself making the line 2 or 3 times. If you want to wait for your medication is better to go hang out at the cafeteria for at least 90 minutes and then make the line.”

“I recently had an appointment with Dr. Lago. I'm happy with him. I wasn't impressed with the office but Dr. Lago did take time to talk with me and schedule tests. I can't seem to get one test done - it's been rescheduled 2 times now - because the medical assistant is too busy to send in the authorization form to the hospital for the insurance company. I'm grateful this isn't an emergency and I'm grateful that Ashley, who answers the phone each time I call, is kind and patient with me while I'm frustrated :) She also got the supervisor involved so my issue could be taken care of.”
