“I've lived in this neighborhood and fished in this lake my entire life. The lake is connected to the poplar creek water system and the fishing can be VERY good depending on how deep the previous winter freeze was. The park district stocked bass, channel catfish, and northern pike in 2019. We got a few 3+ lb bass and catfish in the late summer on medium shiners under a bobber. You can also get decent crappie action in April. Chestnut is regularly home to blue herons, muskrats, and coyotes and you may even spot a beaver passing through.”

“We love it here although we're not residents. We use the pools. Great pools, incredible gym upstairs. Family lockers definitely need an upgrade it's probably in the books, looks at how well they they care about their facility, I'm sure they have plans for it already. Highly recommend the pavilion, pirate's cove! Life guards are the best i have seen around north,west suburbs. Kudos! Very very professional and helpful and polite.”

“Beautiful long (I think about 8 miles) trail for walking, jogging, biking 🚴🏼♂️ or rollerblading. Tree paths, grassy path, bridges, water. A few are near to the city and homes— so not very removed from city in some parts- other parts are immersive. Very lush. Several bathroom stops (average cleanliness - smelly). Several picnic benches, great for large groups. The Elk reserve is a cool little stop, you really need to look to find them at times. We saw 4 on our recent hike. Track your journey and pay attention to markers to avoid getting lost. Close to the mall, theatre and restaurants for dinner or other activities too.”

“The disc golf course here used to be somewhat of a wreck, but they really put the work in to clean it up and make it a lot nicer. Before, the tight, wooded holes were a somewhat fun, but punishing challenge. Now, I think the course is just fun, period. The tough lines are still there, but they're a lot more manageable now.”

“Large beautiful park with plenty of wildlife and a nice sandy kid friendly beach. You can walk out well over 100 feet & it's still sandy & shallow. The paths around the park are great for exploring all 4 seasons. There's a large boat launch & a large beach area where boats can pull right up to shore (dogs are also allowed on this section of the beach). BBQs & picnic tables throughout the park as well as 3 bathroom buildings throughout the park. It does get extremely busy on the weekends during peak summer & holidays but it's beautiful & quiet most weekdays.”
