I HIGHLY recommend Houma RV if your in the area & looking for a place to stay that has Southern Hospitality at its finest. Park stayed very clean & tidy the entire time we were there & location is great with gas stations, fast food, restaurants, a hospital, coffee shop, pharmacy, & auto parts store all either in walking distance or within a 3 minute drive to fit all your needs. The Park also offers FREE cable with a $100 refundable deposit! It was also nice to catch something like 80 channels! One of the managers was even so kind as to help my husband hook it all up & when if we ever need a RV Park in the Houma area again., we will definitely being staying there if they have an open spot!”

“Campground is very clean. The staff and the campers are very nice and helpful. There's a lazy river with a swim up bar. They do provide a limited amount of floating tube rafts but a few people brought their own in case they ran out. No one complained and it was allowed. They even have an air tank so you don't have to blow up your rafts. They do sell food and drinks by the pool area. The pizza was good. There are covered areas with chairs, tables, and lay out areas. Very nice campground and worth it for everything that comes with it.”

Pearl River Wildlife Management Area

Address: Slidell, LA 70461, USA

Park

“This was our first time in a proper swamp, and it did not disappoint. We went up and down the river and got to see the flora and fauna that inhabits this area. Everything from snails to birds to raccoons. I think this is where they made the show "Swamp People", but I'm not 100% sure. The scenery was eerily similar to the movie "The Princess and the Frog". We didn't really need bug spray, even in the swamp, as the water is moving and it doesn't really have too many mosquitoes.”

Poitevent Park

Address: 66306 LA-41, Pearl River, LA 70452, USA

Park

“The park has many advantages that both the athletes and fans (players & parents) and other family and friends can enjoy. Parking and access to all of the fields, the concessions and bathrooms, as well as the batting cages and green space around the entire park is a quick and easy walk from the vehicle. Lighting at night from almost all locations in the park complement every activity. Concessions are limited, unfortunately, but what they do serve is more than just necessities. Hopefully, with support and encouragement, and some initiative from park officials, some solid foods to tide us over. Maybe some hot dogs, nachos, frozen pizza, sausage on a bun, select burgers...(HINT HINT) With all the modern ways to accomplish making this all easy, even with prices today, reasonably pricing items to sell out and still profit to keep concessions open and operating smoothly should be met with enthusiasm, by everyone.”

Rathborne Park

Address: 702 Lakewood Dr, Luling, LA 70070, USA

Park

“This park is a hidden gem of Luling and the Lakewood neighborhood. The grounds are well maintained. I stopped by the other afternoon and 2 grass cutters were there at work. The gazebo, fields for sports and recreation, and other equipment is also a benefit for those that have kids and need to occupy them! The trail is nice and has lots of greenery with an atmosphere of isolation in nature and is only about a mile/15-20 minute walk from start to finish which is a comfortable distance for most people. A little ways in on the leftward route is also an additional trail that breaks off to the left proceeding onto a levee, leading directly into the willowdale neighborhood which is a pleasant and useful surprise. (See included photo). However, there’s only porta-johns by the parking lot as “restrooms” which I imagine is inconvenient and unpleasant for most visitors, and is the only feature of this park that is not up to standard, which is why I cannot award rathborne park the full 5 stars that I would like to!”
