“Wear a hat and long pants because there's potential for there to be ticks in the tall grass and in the forest areas. I enjoy coming here to walk around and enjoy nature. There is also a small pond where you can see certain types of waterfowl like herons and kingfishers which is quite exciting for bird lovers!”

“Terrific place to play softball. They have a couple playgrounds, so you can keep small kids busy easily. Is also a stream that runs through it so if kids like to go waiting, under supervision of course, you have that option also. I also have a couple small Pavilions you can rent for parties Etc. Nice place to go in Frederick.”

“This is a nice dog park with big dog and small dog sections. There are also trails to walk, pavilions and playgrounds. The parking is convenient. My only concern is that the areas have been swampy lately but that is Mother Nature's fault.”

“This is a wildlife management area on an island in the middle of the Potomac near Point of Rocks, MD, with no access, unless you have a small boat. It was historically a farm, but has belonged to the State of Maryland for some years now, since probably the 1970's. It is now forested. Nothing but trees, wildlife, and the remnants of a farm house and barns.”

“This is really a lovely park in the Frederick area. My wife and I came on a beautiful day for a walk around the trail. Not a long trail as it isn't a huge park. But walking the full loop one way and turning around and walking back around gave us about two miles. There is a side trail that goes through a wooded area that we started, but everything was still too wet from all the recent rain. We'll have to try that another time.”

“My husband is a huge Civil War buff. We went on a rainy, gray day. We were the only people to stop in at the visitor center but the staff was pleased to speak with my husband about the battlefield and answer all of his questions.”

“This is a great little home to fit in when you have about an hour. The parking lot is small, but there are usually one or two spaces open. The trail encompasses walking down the farm drive, around the fields, then dropping down for a short stroll along the Monocacy River. Occasionally, I have spotted an eagle up in the Sycamore trees along the river!”
