“Beautiful park in Smithsburg Maryland. It has two large pavilions with many picnic tables. Also there is an outdoor basketball court with several hoops. There are two playground that are perfect for toddlers. The mile long track is more of a cross country type setting with many turns and elevations that offer people different exercise stations along the way like sit-ups, chin-ups and balance beam jay to name a couple. During the holiday season the town will do a Christmas lights display throughout the park which is beautiful in every year appears to get just a little bigger”

“Lock 39 is a beautiful area. I use it as a marker for when I run. It's well maintained and gives a wonderful example of the stonework of the old locks of the canals. The iron is still in place but the gates are gone, but there are stone wall ruins along behind and into the landscape. Maryland law is very strict about hunting for souveniers so just explore and enjoy. Please clean up after yourselves and haul out anything you bring in. (maybe any extra you might see too.)”
