Center for Brooklyn History

We rented the Center for Brooklyn History for our wedding. We used the space for both our ceremony and reception. We could not have had a more magical evening. The library space is absolutely gorgeous, and provided a perfect, reverential backdrop for our nuptials. The downstairs space is nicely laid out, with access to the outdoor patio allowing us to enjoy the warm Brooklyn summer evening. The staff was a pleasure to work with - courteous, professional, and efficient. The communication was clear, and they were very flexible. They worked hard to make our wedding perfect, and they responded to all our requests with an attitude of "yes and." Plus, our space rental fee was a direct donation to the BPL system, which was huge plus! Would highly recommend them for any event you have.

It was calm and quiet and informative. A small museum with interesting exhibits. A cool way to plug into a Brooklinite mindset and gather history on the cultures that make up Long Island.

Excellent exhibits, library, specialty shop and staff: a true tribute to historic and contemporary Brooklyn.

I went here for the Brooklyn Book Festival and it is a beautiful location. The staff was very friendly and despite the volume of people at the location, the staff had a great handle on control and organization. There are multi levels (i never got to see the second floor), but the bathroom in the basement was fairly clean and the library auditorium is massive. Great place to host discussions and other events if available to. Can’t wait to see what you guys have next.

This is a beautiful setting in a beautiful neighborhood. The exhibits are well done, but they aren't so extensive or so numerous that you feel overwhelmed — you can feel like you get something out of it even in a short visit.

And don’t miss the library on the second level. You can view it from just inside the doors, or if you want to see it more up close and peruse some of its holdings, you can sign in at the library’s front desk.
