“A wonderful trail leading down to Cold Spring Harbor with a a good stretch of shoreline that is a protected bird sanctuary and a great place to capture photos or rest and relax. The trail is a loop trail that is downhill to the new boardwalk and there it leads to the Family beach of Theodore Roosevelt. If you want to avoid a very long and very steep section of the trail on your hike out, near the beginning of the trail of the way down the trail splits here you”ll see a Trail sign where you can decide for yourself. There are 4 benches along the trail up along the much less steep section. I captured some excellent bird photos by resting my camera on the top railing of the boardwalk .”

“Beautiful grounds. Very interesting house to visit. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and genuinely interested in the people and history. Make sure to also visit the brick house / museum for a quick history lesson about this great man. Also go out on the short nature walk (slight hill on the way back) for a gorgeous glimpse of Oyster Bay area. As usual, the Park Rangers are great. Only downside is no photography allowed in the TR house.”
