Avra 48th Street

Very good, though very pricey 🫠

We came 7:30pm on a Thursday and the place was PACKED. Looks like a lot of colleagues or client dinner meetings, which the atmosphere and food is great for, but as a result the place is so loud with everyone talking.

Free bread to start. I loved the Avra Chips with its tzatziki sauce. Both the grilled calamari and the freshly grilled fish we got were tender, light, and delicious. The latter was priced at market rate per pound. They have many fresh fish to choose from. Mediterranean food done well.

These 3 dishes and a glass of wine turned out to be ~$100 a person..

Great selection of fish and seafood. The raw bar platter is huge and fresh and a great value to share as a starter with some friends. The fish we ordered was so succulent and just perfectly cooked. It cut like butter and was melt in your mouth delicious. Great selection of wines too, and the bread and olives to start was on point.

They really stepped up the out door eating place. So classic and just beautiful. Even in the winter these outdoor eating areas are going to be warm and inviting. They go all the way down the street. So even in New York where getting a table is usually hard I believe they just may have it under control. Check it out and enjoy

This place is nice. Lunch dining is a bit of a struggle without a reservation and the hostess (es) had attitudes on this day. Other than that, the appetizers were amazing and the lunch specials were tasty (if you're a seafood lover, go with the warm seafood salad). The servers were very professional and attentive. I'd recommend this place a a business lunch or even for date night.

Amazing restaurant!
Me & my wife visited Avra for my birthday lunch (3 courses) and we went out like we had 5 courses!

Fine Greek dishes with fair price here!
A la carte might be a bit $$$, however, lunch prix price 3 course was fantastic!
