(March 21, 2018, 3:39 pm)The Highland Hills branch is located in southeast Dallas, near the 45/20 merge, on Bonnie View just south of Camp Wisdom/Simpson Stuart. The neighborhood isn't as nice as it appears on the surface.
The library is new, modern without being ostentatious; beautifully designed and landscaped. A huge parking lot with very easy access for the handicapped.
The library is designed horizontally, meaning that as you enter the books are to your left and right. Straight ahead are 24 desktop computers slightly cramped together on two long tables.
To the right is a good-sized adult fiction section and a surprisingly small children's. They do have a number of circular hassock-type chairs for the kiddos which look comfy and cute. They remind me of big red toadstools. One minor quibble is that the ends of the bookshelves aren't labelled.
To the left are the CDs, nonfiction, Afro-American, Spanish language and young adult sections.
There are floor-to-ceiling windows comprising the back (north facing) wall, with chairs alone or with tables all along - the whole length of the library.
The bathroom is very clean and spacious. Even the privacy screen is something to behold.
The library seems somewhat underutilized, which is a shame but as a result is very quiet. I recommend you pay a visit if you're in the area. -
