“They got good bait at Capt. Mark's Marina but the convenience store is highway robbery. Marlin Marina has great crab-puffs, the "Best Burger on the Bayou" and the warm hospitality of Ms. Addie. Speckled trout, small redfish, catfish and the occasional sheep's head abound at Clay Banks Fishing Area. Bring your mosquito spray. There's a Brazoria County Park fishing dock on the east side of the bridge. Sunrise over the coastal plain...”

“Great place to take the kids to fish and walk the trails. Unfortunately, the lady time we went they removed the playground. Hopefully they are bringing in a new shaded play area maybe a splash pad..”

“Its a nice spot to hang out, you can swim in the river but there is no power or water to clean up. It is in the middle of nowhere so bring all u need. You can spend up to 10 nights a month but only 5 days in a row. Its free so you cant beat it. Cell service is slow out there”

“One the best spots on Galveston Island to do everything that the family would want. Weather swimming fishing catching bait playing volleyball sitting and relaxing East End Lagoon is the place to go for an all-around good time.”

“Harvey brought a tree down on the bridge and wiped out another but a log is in its place to cross. Makes for a more adventurous expirence. Mosquito's are everywhere but with good bug spray, you'll be fine. I went with my kids and they loved it. Went again on 3.16.19. Some bridges are fixed and easier to get across, some are the same. Very muddy!”

“It’s a nice quiet park. The splash pad pic is misleading. I didn’t see a splash pad. Edited to add: My 2.5 and 7 year old enjoyed it. It has a small play yard, swings, a metal slide, picnic pavilion, a volleyball net, and a basketball hoop. There is sand, so be prepared for that. There are no walkways or trails/walking paths. I have one still in a stroller, so be prepared for terrain. Lots of open area and plenty of tree coverage over the play equipment. It’s a quaint little park for the kiddos and to kinda relax at. Definitely recommend bringing a ball to kick around. No pets allowed. I did see a bathroom but did not check it out.”

“One of my most favorite parks, it's not enormously big so you can take short runs if you don't have a lot of free time or just take a relaxing walk and watch the cute ducks! The only downside would be that since it's near a freeway you can hear the cars and everything, but I still think it's worth a visit!”

“I love this place, nice and quiet park just outside of Dallas. The fish are abundant but you have to be using the right stuff. Carp, gar, cats, bass, and sunnies just to name a few. Couple spots that have shade on all sides as well as a nice walk path around the pond. Have seen some snakes lurking but it's a park in TX. If you walk through woods just wear a snake guard or use a walking/poking stick. Check it out highly recommend.”

“I am a park of the Miller family. One of the last to actually carry the last name although we still have tons more that carry Miller blood. Our park has a lot of history that goes along with us being the first African Americans in these parts after slavery. If you haven't done so already, I strongly urge you to learn the history of this park that the Miller's love so dearly. If you go to the city building they'll tell you about this GEM that lost of people think is just another park.”

“Very professional staff. R'Netta McDowell was very hands on and made the process of providing our 100-year old family patriarch Harry Green, Jr. with a dignified memorial service bearable. Our family really appreciates Laurel Land Memorial Center.”

“An awesome trail that is a bit off the beaten path for most. The trail follows the old rail line and alternates running atop the densely wooded ridge above the creekbed, a corridor cut a few feet down into the limestone bedrock, and over some open spans in the hills that have intermittent or perennial streams flowing through. The open spans and water crossings are beautiful intact pre-WWII timber trustle bridges one of which is quite large and thanks to high tension power lines has a fairly open line of sight for a great view over the surrounding areas. It's not the most developed trail system - the trails off the old rail line down into the wooded banks of the creek weren't clear, or really even marked off yet for the season, when I was there, but it was really early in the year. If it's been raining it's going to be wet - to the tune of intermittent springs in the area draining leaving cool water running down the limestone trail in places. There is also still the skeletal carcass of a dumped car in one spot. I feel like there is a certain charm to it, but I'm strange. I also suspect its removal would do more damage than just allowing it to be a part of the environment at this point. There's not much left but the frame and some of the body panels. The only real complaint is I'm not sure a really good place to park exists. If you're on a bike it's easier to drop the car and ride to one of the trail access points, but I'm on foot, and I don't wanna leave my car where it's in the way for people that live in the neighborhood or work the businesses along the trail, or where it may get towed or hit.”

“Quiet little park with a softball/baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts and a playground (partly shaded). I help coach a youth softball team and we use this park twice a week for practice, it feels like a hidden gem!”
