“Along the Bull Run Occoquan Trail is a great hike. Lots of terrain and occasional views of the reservoir. Consider dropping off a car further upstream and make it a one-way hike. Note that the gate may not be open until 10 AM. A closed gate means an extra half mile walk to the trailhead. For loop hikes, go further upstream to Hemlock Overlook Park.”

Parts of the trail are available for horseback riding and mountain biking, and all parts are open dawn to dusk for hiking. The Fountainhead Regional Park provides easy parking and access to the eastern trailhead.”
