“If you're wanting to learn an authentic and traditional martial arts practice that will challenge you to be the best version of yourself possible, this is the place. I knew that there was a lot of "Americanized" practices out there when I began my research. I was looking for a martial arts practice that I could advance in physically when I reached out to Master Han in March, but I also wanted a traditional practice, and one that allowed me to strengthen my energy. I had already experienced a lot of death in my family (I think by this time we had already lost 8 loved ones), and I was searching for a way to feel better connected to my body. At the same time, I wanted to realize a lot of goals that I had for myself that up until then I had only talked about. I had done some research of other martial arts practices in the area, but was not impressed with the amount of ego and toxic masculinity that other establishments seemed to lead with. I found Master Han's website for Hapkido Yongsulkwan, and loved what I read. It was exactly what I was looking for. I called to see about joining, and Master Han invited me to come watch a practice. Everyone was so inviting, and the environment was clean and peaceful. I loved the energy. I joined immediately. When I became a practitioner of Hapkido and disciple of Master Han, I gained much more than what I thought was possible from a martial arts practice. Of course I became stronger physically, and was able to challenge my body in ways I didn't know I was capable of, but I also realized the magnitude of my mental fortitude. It was the best decision I ever made. Not only did it help me cope tremendously with the passing of more family members after joining, but it provided a safe outlet for me to channel my energy, wash away the stressors of daily life, and allow me to care for myself in a healthy way. This practice has also allowed me to grow as a person, and has strengthened me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It truly is a martial art that requires a holistic approach, incredible self-discipline, self-awareness; and connectedness to oneself in body, mind, and spirit. I often leave practice feeling humbled and grounded, grateful for the words of wisdom that Master Han generously shares as he teaches. Master Han is incredibly gifted, patient, and wise. I could not have asked for a greater teacher. Later after joining his doju, I learned that he received his teachings from Kim Yun Sang, the 3rd Dojunim of this martial art. What an honor it has been to learn from one of the original disciples of such a great legend. He shares more of his story in his blog on the website, which I found truly fascinating. Master Han deserves more credit than he is given. I am forever grateful for the lessons and teachings he has passed down to me, and honored to be his student.”

This team really listens to you and will find a way to make sure you are taken care of. We have never had any problems whatsoever in the last 4 years that we have been going to see them. And they will even fit you in if you need to be seen right away because you are very sick. They treat our family with respect and truly offer a high quality standard of care. This team also has a very diverse range of skill sets which makes them very knowledgeable in a lot of areas. Even with the progression of COVID-19, the telehealth appointments also reflect their high quality of care. Even when my daughter had a horrendous cough/cold, they were able to give me the right guidence on how to take care of her and make her feel more comfortable. They also offered support in case she got worse and what steps to take. Thankfully, I followed everything they said to me on the telehealth call and she got better quickly. “I had a fantastic experience delivering my final baby at home. My others were all delivered in the hospital and the experience just does not compare! This practice is like many OB offices when it comes to having a rotation and an "on call" person - they rotate you around between the three midwives throughout your pregnancy, that way you build a relationship with all of them. Whoever is on call the week of your labor will be the one to come to help you deliver. A trainee came out for mine with Niki, and both were wonderful! They stay with you for a few hours after delivery, come back to your home for 24 hrs postpartum, then again 3 days later. You go into the office for them to check on baby at 2 weeks, then again at 6 weeks. I was told at my last appointment that postpartum depression/anxiety could pop up any time in the first year and to call them if I ever needed to talk about it and they'd help me find the resources I needed. They truly are invested in you and your baby above all! Blood draws and urine samples take place in their office, then they're sent out to a lab; this included gestational diabetes testing. They take your blood pressure, pulse, and check baby, but there's no emphasis on weight as long as you feel you're eating enough for baby and are overall healthy. Visits are about an hour long and they extensively ask about your physical and mental well-being, along with offering actually useful advice. All 3 midwives have 4-5 children, so their tips are legit and from real life experience. They do not rush you when you get close and really take your lead in how you're feeling to let baby come when they come. The birth itself was under $2500 for us (not including prenatal care, but they do take insurance) and I was able to use a pool through them... by the way, highly recommend!! ((Easy clean up, great pain relief, and it obfuscated things for my older children who wanted to be present)). All in all, Niki is so great, Brandy is amazing, love Kaitlyn - I would absolutely recommend to anyone who is on the fence about home birth to at least check them out!!”
