“Great place to chill out and watch the trains cross the bridge over the Potomac River.”

“Great hiking and fishing easy to navigate”

“A relaxing morning hike with an educational perspective. Short enough for older visitors of which I saw several. A few photo opportunities with the cannons and such. In the fall the trail isn't as clearly marked as it could be but an observent person can make it to the ridge.”

“This place gave me a better feel for what happened at Harper's Ferry. Warning: if you're in a RV use the turn around and do not go any farther down the road . Gets narrow. Residential area.”

“I think this is a great area for children.”
Address: 2083 Millville Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA
“Nice walk. Path is in mostly grass with some mulchy bits and some muddy bits. The area around the ruins is wide open grassy plain with a nice mowed trail. Farther in has some gentle hills. Dogs are supposed to be on leash and owners are supposed to clean up but some people do not follow the rules. The CBP facility next door is doing a bunch of construction so your hike may have a soundtrack. Had a good time and a good walk for my girl healing from her knee surgery.”

“Arrived here about one in the morning after hiking the eleven miles from Route 7 around Thanksgiving a few years ago. Luckily there was no one else staying there at the time, so we didn't wake anyone up. The shelter was set up really nice and offered a great place to spend the night.”

“Reading all the previous posts and spending just last night at this campground, I feel the need to write about this place. Yes, the train goes right behind the campground but the other side looks like my picture. The train goes every now and then which you can get used to (let's put it this way: it did not wake us up during the night). In return, you get a beautiful, large spot on grass with river access and discount to all the fun activities that River Riders have to offer. The staff are super chilled out and nice.”

“A true farm once in operation here. Today however there are trails to walk along and meadows perfect for a picnic. When you walk the trails to the far edge of the property, there are some gorgeous secluded views of the Potomac River and Maryland Heights. A marker for a wildlife sanctuary and for Senator Jennings stands near the roadway.”

“Very beautiful place.”

“Found this trail as I was hiking on the AT back to my car. The Potomac Heritage Trail branches off the AT going to the left downhill. Alternate route down to the road. Steep, with loose gravel. Wear sturdy footwear...and hiking poles helpful!”

“Cool! Go all the way to the way and follow the trail to more historic sites along the river... like the water tunnels...on your way to lower town.”

“Excellent walking self guide tour of the locks and canals that made up this area prior to harness the power of water for industry. And there is the town of Hapers Ferry as well - where abolitionist John Brown attempted to create an armed insurrection to end slavery by storming the federal armory in the town.”

“We enjoyed the campground, even though the season was pretty much over. The location is great if you're going to visit the local sites, and the grounds themselves are well kept. Only problem was that the sites don't drain all that well and there are puddles in the rain.”

“Very frequent and useful.”

“Part of Harpers Ferry National Park. Beautiful and historic park that sits on the border of three states, along two rivers - no wonder it played a vital role in the Civil War. NPS guides were so helpful and knowledgeable. We had a lovely day waking trails to scenic overlooks and historically relevant places. The trails were gravel and easy to walk.”

“I already have the best job in the world, spending time caring for and learning more about pets but I am lucky to also live in a beautiful, historical town with places like St John's to visit any time. Every season is different and every minute is another photo opportunity for the artistic folks! Great for all ages.”
