“You have to rate the motel by what it is. this is a much older style motel. park outside your door. Its not a luxury accommodation. we stayed here as the price was decent, and it was where we were at that evening. Just didn't feel like driving over to Gainesville or farther. Room was clean for the most part. Newer hard surface floor in good shape, I'm sure replaced carpet. Many other items are dated and show years of use - but clean. The reason I knocked it down was the coffee pot had old coffee in it. I cleaned it myself (as I was doing anyway because it always seems safer to do it even when looking clean)”

“Absolutely wonderful hidden gem. For the price, you can't beat it! The private island has 50 or so sites from vast group sites with amazing views of incoming ships to intimate nooks protected from the wind and shade. The staff, who ferries you across the channel on pontoon boat, and brings your gear to your spot on 4x4 is simply stellar. Friendly, responsive, and adaptive to parties of all size. You can order firewood by the bundle, which they will drop at your site for you. The ferries are nearly constantly running, so it's easy to hop back into town if you need to grab a bite to eat or some additional supplies. The only "negatives" are no running water, about which they are very transparent, and honestly if you are camping you are already used to that, and pit toilets due to said lack of running water. If you like a good hybrid between car camping and backpacking this is for you!”

“To any potential tenants, please make sure when you call, you speak to the owner, Justin. We are currently in between managers, and if anyone claims to be the manager, besides the owner, they are lying. With that being said, this is still a great place to live, below is my original review, we've been here for over a year now. My husband, 2 year old and I have lived here for almost 3 months! Before deciding to come to SSRVP, we checked out a lot of other RV parks that were dirty and had questionable people living in them. We absolutely love how quiet, clean and how most of the tenants are friendly! From what I've seen from previous pictures and stories from complete strangers, the owner did a really good job with getting this place cleaned up.There are simple rules to follow, as there should be. Follow the rules and you'll be just fine. I love that it is family and pet friendly. We look out for each other here, and that is amazing! We are truly blessed that we found this place when we did, I couldn't imagine living in any other RV park around here.”

“I Love staying here at the place it's better then the dang on Holiday inn. The management is so nice and kind. I fly all the way from Los Angeles,CA when I come home to visit I always have to stay at the Lamplighter because it's so comfortable and peaceful. “Absolutely gorgeous campground. Stayed in one of the Sherman cabins. It was clean and well maintained. The fridge, microwave, ceiling fan and heater worked great. There was also a small supply of paper towels and trash bags. The camp host was friendly and helpful. The campground itself was quite peaceful. Very relaxing. There is a strip mine reclamation happening, lots of new trees planted. Looking forward to seeing it in a few years when the trees have grown. The North Country Scenic trail runs through the campground as well as a few other trails. I would like to have explored them all. Will definitely be back.”

“Laundry (a week into 2 week vacation) close to room. Machine was cl ean, easy to use and large for a stack unit. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Good options at breakfast. Area seemed safe and was close to shopping, gas, eating establishments. My husband left his Rx and when we called, desk said they had it and manager would mail it to our home address. “We just came back from a softball tournament and stayed at this hotel. We were a large group and we had a hard time finding a spot for all of us to get together. We started outside in the courtyard, which was really nice, but it was hot and humid outside. Sheila, the GM, was so accommodating and personable with us. She honestly made our stay more enjoyable. Her personality and the way she goes above and beyond to make her guests feel comfortable did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by our entire group.”

Simple and clean is all you can ask for really. The staff was nice and two different women greeted my dog with treats. She was happy to have her own bed for the night, too.”

Fair spouse and I enjoyed a comfortable, quiet time in this spacious, well furnished room and delightedly consumed a fine breakfast of tasty omelet, English muffins (with local pear butter), and fresh fruit. The room has a queen bed and a single; a chair and a couch; a table and chairs for dining; and a kitchenette. It's over a large garage, so separate from the main house and perfectly quiet. “▪︎Updated▪︎ We only stayed one night in April but said I would definitely be back! I DID!! 4/25 Our room was so much better than expected. Larger and beautifully decorated. It was very clean too. They were so attentive and communicated well. 7/1 Harper's Haven Room. Such a great room. Very spacious and had that at home feeling. Like you were in your own bedroom. Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of areas to store your belongings. An excellent room for yourself or with a companion! Again, the host/owner is incredible. So friendly, attentive and great communication!! This is my go to place when I've start in Brodhead now!!”

“A nicely appointed condo with a 3 minute walk to the beach. A cart is provided that has 2 beach chairs, an umbrella, and several toy shovels. The pool area is a little oasis unto itself. Management gives you very detailed check-in and out instructions, so we never needed assistance. The ONLY draw backs to the place are some traffic noise when you're outside, and noise from upstairs neighbors scooting chairs on the tile floors, etc. We wiould definitely stay there again.”

First the bad water didn't get very hot and like prior reviews the owners a wee bit paranoid about people slipping people in and likely with reason..gotta just do what you can and be happy:). Good things..owner was decent enough to us and guys the room was clean things worked except needing a hot water heater the guy didn't try to price gouge and in fact lower by 5 bucks what he wanted..it's a mom n pop guys and a decent one:)”
