“Touring the mansion, you keep discovering new treasures, not only masterpieces of the past, but also great contemporary paintings. Don't miss the basement rec room with mirrored bar straight out of a Miami Beach mob movie. No, those aren't flamingos on the glasses -- look again.”

“We had seen the Darrow Octagonal House in Kinsman. OH. So when I saw the roadside sign for this location, it was a "must see". A beautiful ptoperty, Wonderfully restored and maintained. The current owner and his daughter spent an hour with us sharing stories. It is off the beaten track but a wonderful serendipitous discovery. Highlight of the roadtrip.”

“What a fantastic tour! Bob and Nick did a great job of sharing information and answering questions. Seeing the equipment run was an added bonus. I am usually extremely cautious about wearing hats that others have worn and loved the fact that we were given hairnets to wear under our hard hats. Visitors were given clean hats that were placed into a “used” bin after use. This a "Don't miss it!" kind of place.”

“Went in early evening and the visitor center was closed, so couldn't go into rebuilt fort. The park it is attached to looks to be a centerpiece of community and was busy. Worth the stop for historic signs alone!!”

So if your familiar with some of the greats this is the place for you. Price point was really good as well. Highly recommend visiting!”

It was a great experience. Thanks so much to Kyle and Erin for the help and help. When we messed up or didn't understand anything they would help us. This was April 2-6. Thx for the great experience. “Very fascinating and well presented story of the King & Kenedy families and south Texas. Small, three room museum but gives great background and details on the regional and family histories from the 1850’s on. Presentation is mainly on signs with pictures and stories told on each subject. Large wall dioramas without any supporting details - which would have been very helpful. You can also walk around the yard outside and read a few signs. We found the stories fascinating and were very impressed. Took us about 1 hour, 20 minutes to visit.”

Greg has assembled a beautiful collection of early Chrysler cars and artifacts and is kind enough to share it with the public for FREE (donations are appreciated). “Fantastic tour!! I booked this mostly for my husband’s sake but we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Our tour involved only one other couple so we were small enough to all be able to fit in the rooms and look closely at items in the house. Our tour guide Ida Ellen was AMAZING!! She knew so much but was also very friendly and approachable. We asked lots of questions which she was able to answer, and it was fascinating to hear about the other types of tours done at the house. The house itself has been home to several families but one main one, through an intriguing period of history - during the time home electricity became available, before indoor plumbing was normal, and when all work was still done manually albeit frequently with the help of specific tools. Honestly I would do the tour again, and I’d be interested to do the other tours available sometime also. There were also some spots on the grounds we were able to explore before and after at our own pace. We were encouraged to take pictures or videos and there is a charming gift shop I recommend stopping by before leaving. There’s even a free little library with a unique feature on the corner of the lawn. I do recommend buying tickets in advance even though you don’t need to. Someone came in the middle of our tour and wanted one, but they had to wait. There is also a self-guided tour option but only when they aren’t running the guided tours. Technically the self guided are free but they recommend a donation to keep their historical work active.”
