“This stable is that rare combination of a friendly low pressure farm and training facility with a most professional 'A' rated show turn out. There is nothing amateurish about their performance and turnout at a show. Double Springs has the class and knowledge to compete in the North East AA show circuit. The one thing I find missing is the shouting and ridicule many of the big name trainer use and that is the Best part of this stable. I saw no back stabbing and watched the rider help and cheer each other on. The ethos is all about the horses well being. It is a delight to see such high standards taught in a civilized and pleasant manner . I recommend Double Springs Farm to any one who feels that the horse comes before the ribbons, trophies and points. I have spent most of my 70 years in the horse world and I am delighted that my daughter found this facility for our horses.”

“Arrived early and had a wonderful conversation with Terry the owner and Ruby our trail guide. Learned that it’s 400 acres and they have 49 horses and Terry’s been open since 1962. I loved learning about how it got started. Ruby was fantastic as our guide for our 2 hour ride. Beautiful scenery and the horses were great. My daughter and I had a blast! I will definitely be back with the whole family.”

“I can’t say enough good things about IRA. Before joining, I had only done a bit of English as a kid and Western occasionally on vacations. I’ve now been riding here for a few months and have taken a variety of weekly lessons both private and adult group classes. The location is beautiful, the instructors are knowledgeable, and there are a variety of horses. Above all else the instructors and stable hands are so kind. I have severe anxiety and Lisa, Olga, and others have been patient and accommodating. Whether you want to be a championship rider or are more interested in having fun like me, they truly care about everyone who rides there. Relevant COVID info: everyone wears a mask walking around the stables, and apart from the restrooms everything is outdoors. You can pull your mask down when riding but that’s fine as you’ll be so far apart from anyone else (20 feet or so). It’s a great way to get outside, learn something new, and stay safe.”

The beds and baths are laid out so you can easily share and the kitchen living area was great for fixing meals and watching the Rider Cup. “I love the Umstead and I have hiked pretty much all of the trails. I love the Company Mills trail the most due to its proximity to my home and there is a stream where I can sit down for a while watching the water flow by. I could just take my lunch there and spend couple of hours in the woods. The second best is Sycamore trail as it varies in height and I use it when I am preparing for longer hikes, there is a secret off the road path to sit next to the dam where I can sit and each my snack or lunch. Also l the trail hugs the stream for good portion of the hike.”

“This was our 3rd stay at Boulder's Resort. The rooms were immaculate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The resort is lakeside and there are lots of great amenities including kayaks, paddle boards, a pool and fire pits. It was minutes away from the center of town but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend!!”

“This place is AMAZING. We went for our Anniversary and the website pictures do not do it justice. The Tree House cabin is actually in the trees and has a babbling brook running next to the hot tub and inside the tree is a tiny little rabbit family with props and themes. Pewter cutlery, every inch elaborate and crafted. Warm and soft bed with amenities like Ice Machine and Fridge. Just the best And the owner was the coolest woman you can imagine. Runs a gift shop next door with incense, costumes, books and just everything for this kind of retreat.”

“I was nervous sending my youngest there (she's 5, I never sent her older siblings), so I chose the 1/2 day option. She absolutely loved it. The counselors are all around 16, and have tons of upbeat positive energy. We were lucky to have a nice hot week perfect for swimming every day except the last day, where they spent the day inside at Laura's art center. Efficient drop and pickup procedures. The main counselor did a great job of re-applying sunscreen! My daughter was only a little sunburned on the first day (which is my fault b/c I didn't apply before dropoff)”
