It's run and curated by the Thoreau Society, so the selection is expertly tailored to the site specifically and to Thoreau, Emerson, and the transcendentalists in general. “This is a magical bookshop! It's family run and has been open since 1958. It is the place to go for quality used and out of print books. Everything is organized perfectly, so you can get lost in your favorite topic. They're only open 11 - 4 on Fridays & Saturdays and are near the Van Nuys Courthouse. I'm not sure that the owners won't retire soon, so I recommend that if you're a book lover, get there soon!”
