“Opened in 1928, Tunnel Mill has always been a great place for young Cub & Boy Scouts to learn more about the outdoors and themselves. The venue is the perfect setting for being close to nature without being too far from town if any odd needs arise on your Scout outing. It helps provide an old-fashioned homey feeling while also still allowing the solitude of nature. The property also has a rich history in the community, hosting one of the state's most splendid historical sites: the John Works House and old mill wheel. The camping and leadership programs offered here have a profound impact on their participants. Like generations of Scouts before me, I can confidently say that my times at Tunnel Mill are some of the most important times of my life.”

When I got back the first thing I did was go to the shop. The couple was sweet professional and knowledgeable. It seemed as though they actually cared about my safety. It didn’t feel as though they were just trying to sell me something. I appreciated the experience and I will definitely be returning.”

“I had the best stay here. Location was the best, also loved the ambience of their lobby as you walk in. Every staff there even the valets were super smiley and friendly. Valet parking only with no self park but it was efficient and reasonable cost add on for that. Stayed twice here and will come back again. Only feedback is that sometimes maybe the wall is thin so you can hear walking from floor upstairs. Room is big.”

“This is the only RV camp spot on Seward Highway between anchorage and portage train station)which I was lucky to have. Owner was really nice. He has owned this motel for more than 20 years. He is very friendly and helpful. I arrived late night and he helped me with electric hook up. We gave him a grill as a token of love(I liked him) because we were gonna leave alaska very next day. “I called Matt to have 2 speakers installed in my boat, I had bought them online and even though he was resistant to do that Vs buying from him he agreed to install them. When I went to drop the boat off both he and his employee Trevor met me, they were both super friendly and asked many questions about where I wanted them installed and offered suggestions. 2 days later I went to pick the boat up and I could not have been more pleased with their craftsmanship. The speakers look and sound great! I will definitely be back for more boat work and a remote start for my daughters car.”

“The streets are all two-way so try to keep to the right and avoid cutting corners at intersections. Watch out for folks popping out from the bushes or driveways into the street. 😂 There's no sidewalk for cushioning. The rent is high and the homes are cheap. Great for folks with solid earning capacity and limited savings. Much more pleasant and affordable than apartment living in this area. Without a strong investment portfolio or bullet proof pension plan, one should plan to remain productive to grow old here. The people you see walking and biking on a daily basis are investing in their financial future. 😁 Casa across the street is nice! You are allowed to be eccentric with your home. Adobe down the block is awesome with a real park setting. Homes in PDR are hands down the most bang for your buck.”

It's not far out, it's close enough to town that I can run grab something if I need to, it's got a playground, flushing toilets and showers. Updated, with storage space, and an extender in the shower made this small restroom space functionable. Plenty of parking, newly painted parking spaces. Convenient, right off the highway. The pool and area is clean, landscape is well kept. Staff and front desk are nice, friendly and helpful.”

“Had the most pleasant stay at the beautiful Afton Historic House. It has plenty of “historic” charm while still providing the right modern amenities. We look for and love hot tubs and do not typically care about whirlpool tubs BUT this one was totally different! It was huge and had great jets. Also the bar and restaurant in the same building was an awesome addition. Loved being able to walk to the great views of the river! Also really enjoyed our private deck.”
