“Completely transformed over the last 10 years to focus on the Monitor as it’s prime exhibit. Includes the turret and a large number of artifacts, plus a full size model of the entire ship outdoors and a full sized model of the turret indoors. The real thing is there undergoing preservation for years with good progress, but you can barely see it since it is under water. Beyond that, it has a huge Americas Cup yacht so big that even its own building is too small, a few small boats that now have an climate controlled warehouse, and an amazing set ships models.”

“Note to travelers, as of April 5, when we arrived we were informed that there are no dogs, no sleds, nothing mentioned in previous reviews. It’s just the gift shop and a room to watch a TV program. Apparently they don’t start doing anything with dogs until mid May. Wish we would have called first before making the drive but wanted to let others know what to expect.”

The place is well preserved and maintained and we had a good time walking around the trail and knowing about the history. The whole walk and visit took us around 2-3 hours. Do not miss the river walk laid out in the map and the pathway under the bridge.”
