“I am a Junior in high school and every single year of my school career I have had to move schools once if not more. When I arrived at Gentry Middle School, I had been told rumors that the folks there had not worn shoes and rode tractors to school. I soon found out that was not the case. Although they are not 100% redneck, they are 100% perfect. Just thinking of my days at Gentry bring tears to my eyes. I would do anything to return to my 8th grade days for just 1 day. During the first month, all of the homerooms had the assignment to write a song for the school. I remember asking my teacher if it was supposed to be a positive or negative song. I was so bitter for leaving my other school, just like every other move I had experienced, and I have not even come from a military family. She soon jerked me in the hall and had a come to Jesus meeting with me. She explained about how proud she was about her school and the depth of pride she had in that school, I didn't understand then, but I have am proud to say that I join her in the same level. The year was real bumpy for me at home but, I always enjoyed waking up and coming to school. My math teacher was my second mother. My reading teacher was my coach. My P.E. teachers were my stress relief. My science teacher was my best friend. Still to this day I stay in touch with my PLTW teacher. The student body, well, family doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about them. That school gave me a lot. It gave me hope, determination, love, strength, motive, and most important, they gave me a plan. They taught me that dreaming is not enough. If you wake up, you can either go back to sleep and chase your dreams, or wake up and make them happen. I went to them thinking they were nothing and I left them making me something. One day, by accident, I was asked to take off my Christian T-shirt due to a mistake. Administration mixed up the staff and student policies. The next day, I walked into school, like 5 minutes late, I walked into the gym, and there sat all the 8th graders and the Principle y before due to being at county office for staff meetings. I walked in, all the kids staring at me, when the Principle turned around and looked at me. She ran up to me and dismissed the students. She ran to try to catch my step-dad before he left the campus. She was extremely apologetic for the mistake that had taken place the day before by another staff member. She personally held a assembly in the morning for all 8th graders, because they are all the ones who knew about the incident, to formally apologize on the schools behalf, AND I WAS LATE!!! Once we entered her office and she called my step-dad, I went to class and my step-dad showed up so she could have a face-to-face apology about the mistake. As I arrived to class, walking down the halls, there was not one person that I saw that didn't have a Christian t-shirt on. I was astonished. Everyone had come together for a cause that they believed, in a way that was non violent and undisrupttive. Between the strength they gave me when I was down to nothing and God, I truly believe I can achieve the impossible. Actually, I know I can. Because I already have. I turned a group of 8th graders who would have never come together, God and I turned into unity. I honestly believe I was put in that school, in that year, in those moments for a reason. There is no other middle school that I would trust my child in. I know this by experience. If you are moving into the area, I STRONGLY suggest J. Sam Gentry Middle School.”

“Went here from 4-8th grade (10-6 years ago) and overall, it was a major stepping stone in my education. I got to take some accelerated courses which in the long run helped me in college, plus you get to make a lot of good friends (many of which I’m still great friends with today) because everyone in your grade knows each other well. I’m not giving it 5 stars cuz the quality of teachers was pretty hit or miss. Mr Taylor Mr Alexander and Mr Redland were great and I gotta credit them big time for developing my interest in STEM related topics. If your kid gets a chance to go here, send them.”

“I have been talking lessons from Patrick for the past 9 months after trying to learn on my own with on line lessons. I feel like I progress more in 1 month with him then in several months by myself on line. He has a easygoing manner of teaching that helps the student to relax. He is also very open to helping the student with any special goals, rather then forcing his own lessons. I’ve been enjoying my time with him and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. He is also very accommodating with students schedules. I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone wanting to learn guitar.”

“I started seeing Lindsey about 8 months ago when I decided I wanted to intelligently improve my singing voice. I was terrified at first, having never sang in front of other people, as most people usually are. Eight months later, I can functionally play guitar, am confident singing in front of others, and have begun writing my own songs. We worked bi-weekly, following a balance of my curiosities, interests, and song choices, alongside her structured lessons on vocals, skill development and music theory. She also hosts a student gathering every month or so, where we all get together to practice performing in a supportive environment, and I found it was essential to my growth. Lindsey is so knowledgeable, open, and endlessly supportive of your musical journey. I feel so grateful to have worked with her, and know that I could reach out at anytime in the future and have a friend and teacher in her. Thank you, Lindsey!!! ❤️”

“I wanted to share my kudos to the entire St Michael Academy Preschool Family. The preschool has been on the campus of St Michael Parish for almost 30 years. My youngest daughter could not contain herself. She was so excited to start her 1st day of school because the tour during the prior week went so well. She got to see some activities that kids were doing and in the process met some of her future schoolmates. She had so many stories to share about her first day. She loved meeting all her new friends, playtime, activities, etc. I was even amazed that Pre-Kindergarten students were experiencing the teachers breakdown STEM concepts using boats (engineering) and pumpkin snacks (science and healthy food topics). Now that is pretty cool in my opinion. I'm really excited to see the school's alignment to a STEM focus curriculum all while sharing the teachings of our Catholic faith. The implementation of STEM focused activities, dedication to Staff development & training, and building a foundation to collaborate with the Academy will be amazing for students and families who decide to see what St Michael Academy Preschool can do to serve their needs. “Mia you must have the worst review I have ever seen. I attended the old Bresnahan school and I found the experience fairly decent. I had my child in Amesbury Elementary prior to moving to Newburyport. I actually moved just to be able to switch my child to this school system. My son is a week away from the cut off date and I strongly supported him staying back. All information about a young boys progression supports my feelings but apparently AES (Amesbury Middle School) felt they knew what was best for my child over my own concerns. The staff at the Bresnahan brought him in for a private screening and were more than accommodating with my late move to the town prior to the school year. The staff generally seems to care far more and are very good at keeping communication with my child's progress. Very dissimilar to AES where despite having regular one on ones with the teachers I had to continually hear about actions they took like extra testing and private sessions threw my son instead of the school.”

Hi to PADI Instructor Curtis. Love my new gear and though it may seem stuff is all over the place, Andrea has a firm grasp, memory and knowing of everything in her shop. Inspection service provided. Prices are at industry standard. She closes at 5:00 p.m. Andrea is well known in the small Scuba microcosm—just like Instructors Laurie/Karen (Sport Chalet). Grateful for these ladies.
