Get an app on your phone to know where you're looking and you'll be able to see planets and constellations. In addition to the heavens, the earth below is equally awesome. Take a gander at the expanse of the SF Bay area.”

Crystal Springs Cross Country

Address: 2600 Hallmark Dr, Belmont, CA 94002, USA

Park

“Running course for cross country. Not open to the public, but has a small tennis court and playground. The view of the reservoir across the way is beautiful. If you ever get the opportunity to run here, it's truly an experience. (My running advice of the course: the first mile is by far the hardest. The running back up the hill is impossibly hard and it pychs you out. Try and keep a solid first mile and the other two are much easier. There is a moderately difficult hill in the middle section to keep in mind)”

Pillar Point Harbor Beach

Address: 4000 Cabrillo Hwy N, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019, USA

Park

“Parking is free, but the lot is small so get there early. Nice path leading around the point to the jetty and the open ocean. The beach juts against cliffs, so check the tide calendar before you go. Go at low tide and check out the great tide pools. Leashed dogs allowed, but people generally ignore the rule.”

West Shoreline Access

Address: Unnamed Road, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019, USA

Park

“Wildlife views include pelicans, various other birds, crabs, an eel-like fish, and tiny sand critters that burrow in the sand. We went Sunday, and there are lots of people including international tourists. Many folks have un-leashed dogs even though signs clearly command leashes or fines! Everyone appears "normal" meaning there are no apparent homeless, mentally handicapped, or heavy drug users around. I feel safe, and I am a woman nearing 60. The beach is clean. Sand is fine and easy to walk bare footed. No one is in swimsuits. It is July 29 and the temperature is 63° at 5:25pm. I had Googled Maverick Beach and it placed me here. Parking is free, but crowded. All in all, it is a lovely place for a ten-minute or hours long walk, or a beach picnic--as many people do.”

Church Park

“Quiet beach with amazing tide pools.”

“Bair Island is a vital and beautiful gem, a preserved space from an earlier era, and one of the last remaining natural marshlands in the bay. It is home for innumerable birds, feasting on the creatures of the muck and mud and tall grasses. Go there and watch them.”

Rosek park

Address: San Carlos, CA 94070, USA

Park

“Adorable little park. Great for family outings. Actually, I think because it is so small, it's nice to walk over and sit on a bench for a few minutes with my cat. There's also a water fountain, but I've never used it.”
