“Clean, fun place, with the right company! Plenty of space for people and activities, but not much else to do close by, (for a big group) so have plenty of activities to keep kids and others entertained. The tables are a bit worn, but serviceable, and they have a restroom, although no water.”

“Amazing hike with scenic views. On-leash dog friendly. Very challenging. There are a few challenging switch-backs. 3.5 miles & 900ft elevation gain. Highly recommended.”

“Really nice campgrounds, will be back. Big green area and playground. Town is fairly close, could bike or walk but the road is very narrow so better off driving. The bathrooms are fair.”

“Bitchin' and beautiful. Stout trails that illicit concentration whether hiking or biking. There was a reason why I lived in the Ojai Valley for 8 years!”

“Wow so beautiful. Amazing and grand! The views are extraordinary the drive and scenery just beautiful. To think this scenery is in my vicinity and I had never traveled this way. Thank you God for your beautiful creation and artistry.”

“Nice campground with personable hosts who take great care of the property. Pit toilets are kept clean and not as smelly as you'd expect. We reserved site 68 but the host suggested 28 for us instead which cannot be pre-reserved and happened to be available. Right by the creek so we slept to the calming sounds of creek and crickets. Highway noise is a bit of a bummer but not enough of a deterrent to not come back. No running water so bring your own. We brought a propane firepit so we could still enjoy the comforts of camping and not disobey the fire restrictions.”

“Shelf is a great road to walk, run, or a warm up to more hiking right above it. Right now everything is green and beautiful!”

“A place to commune with the plants, a place of education, and a place of natural beauty, the Earth Island Herbs Garden is a very special place not to be missed on a trip through Ojai! Beyond the garden lies the guiding source of light and life, Mama Earth, Carol Wade, has been the driving force of this magical place. Here, garden tours/medicinal walks are conducted by Carol, showcasing medicinal plants and the body systems they are highly revered in, giving you a clear insight as to how you can integrate plant medicine into your own life. There are also wonderful examples of sustainable gardening and eco friendly solutions to cultivating your own garden shade and mindful way of living at home. In addition to the garden itself, Carol offers herbal studies certification programs for all levels throughout the year, retreat experiences, and so much more.”

“Nice little campground and picnic area way up there, with an easy short hike to the falls. It rained a lot before we were there so there was water overrunning the trail, and the campground entrance, but we managed it. Nice place to relax.”

“It was a great experience hiking this place. It was quaint and meditative hiking this trail alone. The trail is about 2 miles consisting of trees, bushes, couple of creeks in between and a gravel bed. No big scenics, until we hit a few mounds of rocks. The almost 2 miles hike was worth it after seeing these rocky hills. There was a smell of some sort of herbs or something in the entire trail that was therapeutic.”

“* Late review - Hiked in four miles with my 10year old during the dry spell we had. If there's no water flowing at the start of your hike, there's not likely any at your camp. Carry in everything you need and carry out everything you brought. Very mild walk in. Expect plenty of company on weekends but there are a wide range of spots to be found to pitch a tent away from the pack.”
