“Spent the night here camping on the beach which was awesome. Nothing like having a fire and listening to the waves roll up the beach. Hiking is great here as well. Facilities are well maintained and rangers patrol the area often. Can get very busy here so make sure to plan in advance! Even though it is located right along the hwy you quickly forget it is there.”

Sespe Wilderness

“A group of us went backpacking in the middle of Nov. here. The first night in the valley was "a little bit" cold (down to 32 degrees F) and we woke up finding frost on tents and backpacks. The mountain landscapes are very much different than Northern mountains but they are absolutely breathtaking. The highlight was Willett Hot Springs, which I highly recommend. We also saw some shell fossils.”

“Hidden gem! This is the most photo perfect location for your wedding or party in the LA/Greater Ventura area period. Imagine entering a lush hidden garden, with twists and turns to explore and discover. Every inch perfectly planted with mature lush and blooming (Spring, Summer, Fall) foliage that translates into dreamy photos from engagement through wedding! Guests exclaim they love the paths and the 3 acres of rounds they can explore. The water fall, gentle flowing stream, thoughtful fountains, and cages of doves make this wonderland complete. Quiet with stars shining over head. No traffic noise or otherwise. A groomsmen room as well as a lovely bridal cottage. Full service charming bathrooms. Plenty of parking (some is hidden, so ask them!) and delightful helpful wedding coordinator, Bel and owner Barbara -- who the venue was made for! Why people go elsewhere is beyond me... Hartley Botanica is the most dreamy, picture perfect, purposeful place to make your memories, moments and magic come true!”

Conejo Canyons Trail Head

Address: 2010 Conejo Center Dr, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320, USA

“Gorgeous Hiking and Running. Take the Butte Trail (Santa Rosa Trailhead) for a beautiful 5.0 loop (great running as well). Take the hill in the beginning to get it over with and get your warm up on. You will see quail, deer, cacti and more California flora and fauna than you can shake a stick at. You will not however see a lot of folks (a plus). By the end of the trail, you will cross a stream (in the summer) or a river (in the winter) and return via the .50 mile trail that lead you to the trail turn off. A gorgeous hike especially in Spring. tip: I went one time after some particularly hard rains and met a ranger who said to proceed with caution as flash flooding was known to occur. In fact, a couple of folks had perished a few days prior so BE CAREFUL!”

“Absolutely gorgeous trail. Just went a couple weeks ago after the big rain and wow. SO green. There are rolling hills and while it’s green it looks like another country entirely. Pretty easy hike for beginners too! I can imagine it’s still pretty during the dry season, but a huge recommendation if you wanna explore open fields but stay local.”
