“This is the best walking track in existence. They tell you on signs posted how many trips it takes to reach so many miles. There's plenty of parking. There are trees for shade and the track itself is slightly padded so you're not just walking on hard concrete. This is my daily walking spot for my dog and he loves the variety of plants, grass and things to stop to explore. Even right now during heat wave after heat wave at 10 a.m. the ocean breeze is blowing so the walk is always pleasant and comfortable.”

Chantry Flats Parking Lot and Trail Head

Address: Chantry Flats Rd, Arcadia, CA 91006, USA

Park

“This hike is rated difficult, and If you are up for the challenge, it is worth it!!! 14.5 miles, 4600 ft. elevation and beyond beautiful. Mount Wilson is one of Southern California's six-pack of leaks. We started the hike going away from the falls and finished with the falls. Most people begin the hike with the falls. Get their early, because parking is limited. Although there is a place to fill up your water pack at the peak, the restaurant at the peak was not opened, so bring snacks and a lunch. There are bathrooms located at the parking lot and at the peak. Dogs are allowed, but must be on leash. Enjoy!”

I went there in 2017 and I still love the park. I think it's a place for everybody to enjoy it and skate.”

Sam Merrill Trailhead

Address: Sam Merrill Trail, Altadena, CA 91001, USA

Park

“This is a great trail. I did it at night on a full moon, it was bright enough that we didn't need any flashlights, which is pretty cool. It's an awesome feeling hiking by moonlight. The trail itself is pretty well maintained and isn't too rough. There are some parts with a lot of rocks on the trail, but it's pretty mild compared to some other trails I've been too. It's not too steep either which is nice, considering it's quite an elevation at the top. It's 3.5 miles to the top, 7 miles round trip. Took us about 2 and a half hours to go up and down. And the view is definitely worth it. There's there ruins of an old hotel and the cable system that brought guests up to the top. Very cool to see that part of LA history. You could see the entire East LA from there. Overall very nice hike, I plan on going again on a full moon.”

Edward Vincent Jr Park

Address: 700 Warren Ln, Inglewood, CA 90302, USA

“Lovely park with varied amenities for the community (tennis & basketball courts, soccer & baseball fields, skate park, playground, pools, communiy ctr & outdoor theater). The beautiful trees and knolls make it an ideal location for walking, jogging or running and the grounds are well kept.”

Brookside Park Playground

Address: 360 N Arroyo Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91103, USA

“A great park for toddlers to about 8 years old. Large pirate ship themed jungle gym and other things. There is a nearby bathroom and plenty of parking. The parents tend to be a but helicopter'ish, as opposed to letting the kids try to play with each other, but still a fun experience for kids.”
