“Nice Boy Scouts camping place. With many Merit Badges to work in. Some examples are shotgun shooting, climbing, archery, and life saving. Though there are many more. It may seem like a dream but it isn’t because of these following reasons. The tents cabins are a little dirty and small and have bugs. The showers have dead cockroaches but that’s not that bad. Wear shoes in the showers. The food is ok. But it’s actually pretty fun and it’s cool. The staff are all very nice and the campsites are beautiful.”

“Stunning views. Grand loop trail is challenging but rewarding — lots of steep uphill and downhill. We went off the main trail but still made it to the top! Definitely have a good phone GPS with you and lots of water.”

“Another childhood memory in that complex. Used to play baseball, soccer, flag football there, plus my friends and I would go play backyard rule football as well. I noticed several discus rings there now so those are new. Now and then when pass through Shafter, I like to visit my old stomping grounds sort of speak. (Usually on my motorcycle)”

“My family and I visited for a few hours. The weather was perfect and the views are beautiful. We came on thursday around 1 pm and there were only a few people in sight which I admit, it was very nice haha. I only gave 4 stars because the bathrooms were closed. Only the portapotties were open. Overall it was a great day.”

“This park has two playground areas; one for older kids and one, gated area for younger children. There are plenty of picnic tables which are fabulous for birthday parties or simply grabbing a bite to eat outdoors. There are lots of shaded areas and grassy spaces perfect for running around or just putting down a blanket to relax. There is a small baseball field which enjoys little league games on the weekends complete with a snack shack when games are in session. This park even has occasional dance classes which is a perfect way to get exercise outdoors. I highly recommend this park.”

“Stopped there on our way to LA. The small town around is kind of old. But the playground was great Just 7 min from highway, near by resting area. Gives plenty of space for kids to let their energy go. My family stopped thete for 1 hour. Clean toilets. Watch out for strain dogs. Saw a few around, but those were not aggressive”

“A lot of parks do not have swing sets. I like that they have this feature. Playground area is partially gated. I have never used the park's restroom, therefore; cannot comment on cleanliness. Park grassy area seems green year round and it is always cut.”

“This place is great! I wish they had more shade but it's fair that it's two dog parks for small and large dogs. people are very friendly it gets a bit too hot that's why I would recommend if they had more shade it would be a more awesome place! but well worth it. Never had a problem furry kids are all super friendly. No grass that's a bummer but convenient if your a local.”

“My family from the early '80s until '93 , would hold what they called a 'Ball Bash' here every summer. Not only is the park split into two separate sections by King Road, But one of the few parks that actually has a horse corral on the grounds in the Sacramento area. As a kid, my absolute favorite part was walking along the creek that runs through the park, and catching crayfish, and frogs. Probably the best park in the Sacramento area, and unequivocally the best in Placer County for its intended features, and unintended.”
