“Love this park for the kiddos. It has a lot of grass so you can play and run around with the kids. They also have like a trail all the way around so you can burn some calories while kids (older) play. Sometimes we even bring our dog out on a leash to walk. It's also super convenient that it's so close to the house that we can just go for a little walk after a long day.”

“Loved that they had a reservation system, probably kept the crowd down. We enjoyed the amazing trail to the falls area and had fun in the water. The drought made for the falls being very calm, but still beautiful. This is a must stop for anyone who loves waterfalls. The hike was only about a mile and half, but going back, it is mostly all uphill. Bring water, there is water at the start, but nothing after that.”

“I have loved going to this lake for many years. It is definitely a great place to go if you are looking to relax, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. We took our 3yr old fishing for the first time today and while we didn't catch anything we all had a great time. Just a heads up you can not swim in the lake. Other then that it is perfect”
Address: 1515 Refugio Valley Rd, Hercules, CA 94547, USA
“Nostalgia. Growing up in Hercules, the main playground feature of the park was the long concrete slide that you could ride down in jeans or pants (it would be a bad idea if you did) or ride down on a big sheet of cardboard. The top of the structure had a series of plumbers tubes designed to be climbed on. These days, there's a much-better designed playground for young toddlers and older toddlers. Walks around the park are still peaceful. A walk from and to the park along Refugio Valley Road is about two miles round trip from the park to the roundabout. Park benches are present for a picnic/family gatherings. Lots of water fowl. Pleasant park.”

“This is a very nice park. There is a lot of space for many various activities. A good quality basketball court, a few baseball fields, some decent playgrounds, some dirt trails, and lots of open space are a few of the noticeable features. There is also an ok public restroom. It is also located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood.”

“We camped with another couple at a nearby campground and came here our second day. Pros: -It was great to use a real bathroom. -They also have showers in the locker rooms. -Their mini store has odds and ends we wound up needing. -Salted Caramel Ice Cream was delicious -The main pool felt great. -Did not smell sulfuric and water was super soft -Free water was available in the store for swimmers. -Perfect for the day after a hike to sooth muscles. -Had no issues with staff. Other reviews mentioned bad attitudes and discrimination. We were a mixed group of races. The ladies were not overly nice but weren't rude either. They were very matter of fact but I tend to like that about people. Other Facts: -We went on a hot day, bring sandals to wear up to the waters edge. We burned our feet. -$20 per person to swim -Hot Tub closer to the road seemed much hotter -They do not allow dogs (even well behaved on a leash tied up). This is a great stop, especially for anyone camping at one of the dry campgrounds like we did. It may not be the Hilton of hot springs for some, but for us, it was perfect! Thank you for a great time, we'll be back.”

“I used to come here as I Kid with my dad and my sisters. One of the best memories I have when I was a kid, and I loved every moment of it. Can't believe it's still here and well taken care of. There is a variety of playgrounds here that include slides, Swings, and other fun playgrounds. You can take a nice bike ride, or just hang out and read a good book. They also have workout equipment too for the adults, and lots of picnic tables to enjoy a good lunch or a birthday party.”

“Epic. Beautiful trail that winds up Black Mountain, through chaparral, and into ponderosa pine, with giant beautiful granite boulders throughout. Trail is well kept, and offers gorgeous views to the southwest and north/northwest (looking across at the continuation of the San Bernardino mtns where Big Bear is). Trail is steep, sandy, and rocky in parts- bring poles! Though there were only 6 other people on the trail when I was there, I saw dog poop that wasnt picked up (and no, it wasnt coyote, bobcat, or bear poop- i saw that too), and a plastic water bottle tossed in the bushes- PLEASE pick up after yourselves if you go hiking; practice leave no trace. Otherwise, this trail was stellar. Theres parking at the trailhead, up a short dirt road off the 243.”

“Beautiful location. Very friendly staff. The trees and the water were breath taking. We rode motorcycles up and down all through the area. Had terrible cell service so I spent the time actually enjoying the scenery and greenery...RV hookups and plenty of room for tenting.”

“My daughter calls this the American ninja warrior park. Great for a huge range of ages, since they have two playground right next to each other for young and older kids. My daughter's 9 now and she loved it. We met a 10 and 11 year old and they were having a blast. Check my images. The playground has loads of cables to climb on, funky seats to rest in, a rock wall, slides, and other obstacles It even had an adult excersie area near the kids playground. Great for active kids and adults. The kids playground was half in the sun and half shaded by trees. So great for hot or cool days. The park itself is very nice. There was a baseball game going on in the baseball field and a family was under a permanent shaded structure having a birthday party. Lots of grass and areas to relax.”

“Enjoy walking around the lake. Trail is an easy walk on level ground, fishing with license, dock, benches, lots of wildlife. Native plants, clean, well maintained. There are other trails that are moderate to difficult, great for jogging and running. Park area has green space, nice large play structures, and a water feature for the kids. Parking in lot and street parking. A jewel of a park in San Marcos, CA.”

“Went during the afternoon and there wasn't alot of ppl. If your looking for a playground with sand, this is the spot. Nice play area for the kids and a shared area with benches right close to the play area. The park is a long strip and somewhat enclosed on two sides. But it's nice and green with plenty of shade. I did see a basketball court at the other end as well. The picnic area too was shaded. A big plus for eating out here”

“Oso Viejo Community Park is a good spot to spend time with your kids, or grandkids. The coolest part of the playground is the massive slides. Two of the six slides are three levels high, and provide for an exciting ride. There is also a smaller section for younger kids. I enjoyed sitting in the shaded chairs and watching the kids play. The spot provided for a great view of the playground, so not to worry too much about loosing sight of them. There are nice paths which provide for a nice walk, and can be done with a stroller. There are mosaic art instillations, benches for rest or snacks, and a book to read. The pages of the book are spread along the path, which gave the kids excitement to keep moving to the next section. The kids also took some time to run around the field. Overall, a good time. For those that live nearby looking for fitness, there are also workout stations and a horseshoe pit, but as we passed it looked like people were playing bocce ball. I also found out that there is a small hedge maze we missed, so we will have to go back and check it out another day.”

“Great little pit stop on the way out of Big Bear. I stopped because the weather on the mountain tops made for some pretty spectacular views. There's picnic tables: perfect for a quick sack lunch or snack with good ol mother nature. Well maintained and in such a beautiful spot. Would like to visit when the center is open someday.”

“We missed the posts that said you had to have a permit. We got there and the sign said there were no more permits left for that day. I checked online anyway and there were plenty of permits. So, don't trust the sign. The rating for the trail said "Difficult". I have hiked difficult trails, this was not one of them. The trail down was a very even steady grade. Once you get near the falls there is a little tiny bit of bouldering, but certainly not difficult. We did this in winter and the weather was perfect for a six mile hike. I could see where summer might get too hot. Bring plenty of water and snacks and you'll be fine. I never would have thought I could find a waterfall out by Ramona, but there it was... cute little falls and a nice place to spend some quiet time.”
