“The North trail has a small parking lot which makes it accessible for a shorter hiking loop or a liner hiking/biking loop. It is rather exposed in summer so a better trail when it is cooler out. Beautiful colors in fall.”

“A lot of people see the buffalo from the freeway and are unaware that you can get closer to them if you want. You just have to get off at the Chief Hosa exit, go to the north side of the freeway, then make the first left turn down a dirt road. Don't worry, they are still fenced in, but you can get much closer for pictures and stuff.”

“It is amazing to see these animals that seem to reincarnate in Stone Age bodies. To really see them here in the county of Denver, here are some tips. Actually the best chance of seeing them is to just get off the exit 254 and if they are there, you will be able to see them at the first Stop Sign. The Buffalo can also be seen from 1-70 when heading west into the mountains on the right side of the road. If you are heading east towards Denver also look to your right because the Buffalo can be on either side of the highway as they are able to pass under the highway through a tunnel in order to also get the pasture there.”

“We just happened to pull off Exit 254 to go see Buffalo Bill’s grave and drive Lookout Mountain loop. We were pleasantly surprised to see a whole herd of Bison right off the exit. So majestic! It just makes you wonder how the plains looked with wild wandering herds of bison roaming freely a century ago.”
