Many of the boys are beginner sailors and have received excellent sailing and safe boat handling instruction from the Safe Harbor Academy staff and volunteers. The boys are alert to river traffic and understand the inland waterway navigation aides. They communicate effectively on course adjustments to operate safely on a busy commercial stretch of the St Johns River. We need more boaters on our local waterways trained to operate boats safely like these boys at Safe Harbor Academy. Dale St. Denis”

“I had a dental emergency that the dental clinic at Jacksonville was unable to handle. They referred me to a oral surgeon at the Beach. However when I called to make the appointment the oral surgeon's office said that they had not received anything. I then called Gainesville Community Care to see if I could expedite the process as it was turning into a dental emergency (swelling, pain). I did get some assistance but was told that my referral needed to be signed by the chief of the dental department. That's when I ran into a roadblock as I was unable to get through to them. I went to see the patient advocate at the Jacksonville outpatient clinic (Winette Cox) to see if she could provide assistance. She was absolutely awesome. She made numerous calls and navigated this referral all the way to the top. I left with an appointment for the next day. I can't thank them enough for their help!”
