It's a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Food is simple and delicious. Great spot for students or families looking to stretch a dollar. I love to eat and I am very satisfied by two tacos, stuffed if I eat three.
They have the standard Mexican beers and sodas. Overall, I really like this place!
I recently visited Taqueria Y Fonda La Mexicana in Manhattan and was blown away by their amazing food. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delicious Mexican meal. But what really stood out to me was their Cactus Taco. It was a work of art - the combination of tender cactus, tangy salsa, and fresh cilantro on a warm corn tortilla was simply divine. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and I found myself savoring each one. This is definitely a must-try dish for anyone who loves Mexican food. I highly recommend Taqueria Y Fonda La Mexicana for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Mexican cuisine in Manhattan.
Overall this was a great experience! The chips and salsa were complimentary and tasty! The staff was friendly! The Birria tacos were delicious! The variety of individual tacos we ordered tasted great, and they definitely were not stingy on any meat filling. The only downside was the chicken enchilada plate - it lacked flavour (the enchiladas) and the sauce was a little sour. But overall, we would definitely go back!
I got the enchiladas with green mole sauce. It was fantastic! I would definitely recommend this place for unpretentious, filling, and cheap Mexican food versus other places in the area.
The restaurant itself is small, so try to get it takeout or delivered instead of eating in. But if you do eat in, the staff is very friendly and accommodating so I'm sure it will be a good experience.
The prices are what drove me to eat here. I was galled by $20 enchiladas without rice or beans at a place on the same block! For $17 you get three enchiladas, a lot of rice, beans, a little lettuce and tomatoes, chips, and three tortillas on the side. 10/10 portions with 10/10 taste.
