Malaysia Grill

This is my go-to spot. Clean. Staff is always friendly, service may be a bit slow at times but that’s because they are busy (for good reason). Large portions so price is acceptable (especially for NYC standard). Variety of lunch specials. Food is always flavorful and cooked well. Pictured: Singapore rice noodle with shrimp, triple delight (chicken, beef and shrimp), and chicken pad Thai. Highly recommend the roti canai and coconut rice 😁

The food is solid not bad not amazing. Having lots of experience this is likely a 3.5-3.7 / 5. But given the limited options in Manhattan for Malaysian this is fine.

I ordered the curry chicken, chicken rendang and Char kway teow. The curry chicken wasn’t authentic normally you would use whole pieces of chicken but it’s fine - Americanized. The rendang was good solid, nothing wow but it’s solid worth ordering. The CKT was fine I do prefer the Penang style but it only had prawns and bean sprouts. The flavor was ok but was hoping for chives, pork sausage, pork crackling for more authenticity again nothing bad, totally edible but far from the proper way to experience it. I would rate this a 3/5 however given the limited options in NYC this place deserves a 4.

Definitely worth a visit if you want some Malaysian Singaporean food.

We had lunch here. The prices are good for the lunch special. My husband is Malaysian and I’ve had lots of good Malaysian food, this food is pretty ordinary, your typical NYC Chinese takeout joint. Friendly service. It’s fine but I don’t think I need to go back.

Wow! My partner and I were looking for a new place to eat and came upon this gem, as soon as we approached we were greeted with friendly service from one of the hosts. The service was very fast as well and the food was delicious! Honestly one of the better places I’ve tried on the upper west side and it did not disappoint! Definitely worth visiting if in the area!

Exemplary. The ambience is soothing but not sleepy, and the wood paneling is charming. Tasting the coconut rice is a must, whether by itself or slathered with beef or chicken cooked in an elegant concoction of spices. The prices are reasonable, and the mixture of onions and lemongrass gives many of the dishes a lovely entrancing vitality. One of the best SE Asian restaurants in the city.
