“The North Cove is an ancient cove, and native American canoe launch. Later it developed in to a dock area in the Industrial Revolution, and then, sadly, an illegal garbage dump for decades, until it was rehabilitated, by Jim Cataldi, of the NYC Wetlands organization. In the middle of the concrete jungle, hidden between a parking lot, and a train yard, is this oasis of trees, ducks, geese, blue crabs and muscles. Here, Mr. Cataldi, has established a Federal Wildlife preserve to protect this ancient site and natural wildfowl migration point.”

“Best during late April and early May, the magnolias are a gorgeous collection of a variety of blooms and colors (at least white, pink, and purple). Can get a little crowded, so arrive early. We walked over here from the main entrance, but it's also accessible by taking the tram.”
Address: The Bronx, NY 10467, USA
“Easily accessible, the staff at the door are very helpful & informative. The ramp is nice and smooth. Also, love that this entrance leads right to the children's garden and has a tram stop.”

“A WATER WONDER, which we came upon while touring the New York Botanical Garden, the landscaping charmed an d we lingered and savored the summer day.”
Address: 2900 Southern Blvd, The Bronx, NY 10458, USA
“Had a great time in nature. Enjoyed the azalea garden the most. On a hot day the tram comes in handy. They pass every 25 minutes so we were hopping on and off pretty much walked around at each stop and continued on. We paid an entrance fee but on Wednesdays it is free. I would say for the summer months make sure you have a bottle of water and are wearing a hat.”

“Went on a Sunday morning walk with friends and the first thing you notice is how quiet and remote this park is. Plenty of space to relax, jog or ride bikes or play tennis. Gorgeous views of the George Washington bridge, the Little Red Lighthouse, Palisades and the Hudson River. Amtrak also passes by frequently as noted by the horn blowing. Great place to bring the kids and the dog. I can't believe I've never been here till today.”

“Staff members are friendly and helpful, Grounds are pretty clean considering the huge number of people staying. One negative is the tubing, not for young children. We were a group of 19, 4 between 8 and 11. Parents did not enjoy this part of our stay. Water on lazy 2 hour float is extremely rough in spots. I know how to swim and hit a rock which threw me out of my tube and was dragged by the current. A group closer than mine helped me up by letting me hold on till my group got me. I've never been afraid in the water - till now. We will return, but next time rafts only. We chose to get out of the water shortly after this, not due to me but rain, thunder and lightning. Joe(I believe) was at the side of the road with a van!! I will say that one in our group did not check back in at the end and staff did come to our site to make sure we all made it back!”
