“Lovely Sanctuary! If you want to have some quiet time, go for a walk with your dog, go with your family or just paint or photograph nature, observe plants or animals, get away from noise. This is the perfect place! There is a swamp, there is a bird observatory, there are several trails and are easy to follow. The dark blue trail might be a bit stiff in a couple of spots if you never go for walks, but kids can do it perfectly fine. The other trails are really easy. I don't think it's a great place for runners. I t's just beautiful!”

“A wonderful trail leading down to Cold Spring Harbor with a a good stretch of shoreline that is a protected bird sanctuary and a great place to capture photos or rest and relax. The trail is a loop trail that is downhill to the new boardwalk and there it leads to the Family beach of Theodore Roosevelt. If you want to avoid a very long and very steep section of the trail on your hike out, near the beginning of the trail of the way down the trail splits here you”ll see a Trail sign where you can decide for yourself. There are 4 benches along the trail up along the much less steep section. I captured some excellent bird photos by resting my camera on the top railing of the boardwalk .”

“A long scenic drive to this location, littered with large manicured homes on large plots along the way. The trails here are well marked but kind of short. Spotted the occasional bird and squirrel, along with a few fisherman on the pebble beach shore. Otherwise it felt like I had the place to myself as there were only two other cars in the parkinglot, probably belonging to each of the fishermen.”

I went there a couple of times and just sat and looked at the scenery. It's a good, quiet place to go to and think or just relax and hang out. I like it, although I have no idea who Charles is or why the park is named after him. Go check it out if you're ever in the area.”
