If you decide to take your dog to the rest of the park for a hike, be aware dogs must be leashed. The best time to go is during the week as not many people tend to be there.”

Troy Beach County Park

Address: 490 County Rd F, Hudson, WI 54016, USA

“Parking is minimal so get there early. Nice beach, water was great, the sand gets really hot though! I burned my feet walking to the car, the same for under my flip flops and hurt so I took them off and that was a bad idea! Wear better shoes for walking if it's hot and sunny”

“Extremely clean, family friendly campground with a theme park feel! There were so many fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. The staff were nice and helpful. This is our new favorite place to camp. It's also very accessible with cabins for rent that have wheelchair ramps. There were no lifts at the pools but there's upgrades happening and I'm hoping that is something they eventually add. The first bathroom stall is the wheelchair accessible one in the main bathroom which was so nice to see! We love, love, LOVE this place!!! Also, the dog parks were a huge plus!”

Kurtz Woods State Natural Area

Address: Grafton, WI 53024, USA

Splash Pad

Address: 920 DeWitt St, Portage, WI 53901, USA

“When it's a hot day and everyone just needs a cool down the Splash Pad is very convenient! It's usually very clean. It is located right by the school which is fine save the proximity to busy streets. Which is about the only setback towards a 5 star rating.”

Nevin Springs Fish and Wildlife Area

Address: Syene Rd, Fitchburg, WI 53713, USA

“Great dog park. Well maintained with separate small dog area. Plenty of room and groomed trails. Waste bags and disposal stations are convenient. Prairie restoration areas in center.”

Cherokee Marsh State Fishery Area

Address: Madison, WI 53704, USA

“Have not actually been through the marshland areas or trails, but the area itself is beautiful and it’s a unique and peaceful location. For those of you not aware, this not a regular “park” per se, so don’t plan on bringing kids or planning a recreational trip.”

Wilke Glen and Cascade Falls

Address: 101 N Cascade St, Osceola, WI 54020, USA

Park

“This is an amazing get away with refreshing vibes. The waterfall looks great and we have enough space to hang around downstream. “Pricier than other campgrounds in the area but great fun for the family. They have a very cute shop with everything you need, are minutes from town, and have nice full-hookup spots. Amenities include a bouncy pillow, swimming pond with giant floating slides, bikes/tricycles for rent, playground, giant chess, and more. Plus, the train for the amusement park comes through in the summer to pick people up to go - there's also a great walking path straight to the amusement park gates!”

Red Cedar Lake State Natural Area

Address: W9046 US-12, Cambridge, WI 53523, USA

“Great place for a hike. Shallow lake. Froze out some years back, maybe 2014? Open year round but no motors of any kind allowed. Great option for canoes and kayaks! Fishing coming back. Not great yet, but getting better.”
