“Just signed up for my third seasonal year and I’m very glad I found this place. I have no experience with the previous owners, only the new ownership. I’ve been camping for over 40 years all across this country (not always in campgrounds and never as a seasonal until just recently), and I’ve been to some great campgrounds and most of these places are fantastic, save a few. The owners here go above and beyond, however. This is a family owned and operated place and the owners (Jen & Bumper) can usually be found running the store where you check in (well stocked full of that stuff you forgot or just forgot you couldn’t live without), or you may find them busily setting up events and running them or delivering much needed firewood for those campfires. I cannot say enough good about them or how they run this place. The other seasonal people that are here are friendly and if you’re looking for a better group to hang out with, good luck. Other campers that come and go with their family’s I see having great times. Maybe a first time family trying something new or a group of friends (or family) always have fun that I see. Many repeat campers with kids, riding bikes, having great times in a safe environment. Did I mention the gameroom complete with pinball and the ice cream they sell? “This place is absolutely beautiful. It’s a very crisp morning and the sky is so blue! Last evening about 15 deer were grazing in the field behind the motorhome. (Mid October) This is our second stay and already looking forward to the next. Clean bathrooms - grounds are excellent/clean - plenty of space between campers - campground roads in good shape. Excellent paved walking/biking path. Laundry facilities (not free) available.”

“Very nice quiet campground. There is a pool here that is right near the office. The laundry room.is also near the entrance and garbage is close by. It was a great quick trip. This is not one of those camp grounds with all the bells and whistles rather a true campground pretty basic with pools. The staff was nice over the phone & in person. The only reason not 5 stars is because I like a campground that has fun activities planned on a weekend other then that no complaints here.”

“Lums Pond is a fantastic place for hiking, biking, kayaking and camping. The fishing can be fun too, however the pond seems to be over fished, and as such it can be very hit or miss. Overall, I've almost always had pleasant experiences at Lums, and would definitely recommend going.”

“I almost didn’t stay here because of the reviews so I want to leave an updated one so people can know what’s currently happening there. If u need a place to stay that’s clean and safe (bonus: beautiful) and probably one of the closest to Chicago, this is your place. The road there is a pretty smooth country road, nothing bumpy like other posts say. I gave it 4 stars because the lady in the office is a little strange and she got into a little argument with an employee right in front of me. It’s a quick and easy drive into Chicago (40 minutes with good traffic).”

This is a very sought-after place to camp in California. Park fills up six months in advance... 30 campsites for dry camping... 30 sites have partial hookups... you will not be disappointed.”

“Gosh, if you'd like to take your family outdoors for a breather & great view, I highly recommend this place. My family and I had a blast. Just try getting there early as there's no parking. You kind of have to park alongside the road. Not to steep of a walk down, depending on where you park. It's free, but no bathrooms or BBQ pits and stuff. So, pack some sandwiches and stuff. :)”
