“Spur of the moment overnight camping trip. Super clean restroom and showers. Its a conservation area, so everything is well taken care of. No ropes on trees, no string lights, but that is clearly stated. We saw a dolphin the first night and a raccoon family. The only thing that was a bummer was the light on every electric post. For me, in a van, the light was way too bright to try to keep it out. I even tried putting a towel over the light butnit was a beacon still. Couldn't figure out a way to turn it off-think it might be on at dusk, off at sunrise.”

“This is a nice house. I went here to go on a tour of it and was satisfied with my experience. The tour started in the gift shop across the street and went into the house through the front door. Once we were in the house, we went into the kitchen, and living room, then up the stairs to the second floor, where we went into the bathroom and the bedroom that the kid from A Christmas Story slept in (I forgot his name). After we went in his room, the tour group went into the back yard and then back to the gift shop, thus ending the tour. I gave this house five stars because it has been preserved to be exactly like it was in the movie. It’s also a nice house and I wouldn’t mind living there.”

“For a base hotel, it was pretty good. There is a small sitting area, a full size refrigerator and microwave, a safe, a pretty big closet, etc. I'm pretty tall, and I didn't have to duck in the shower because of the placement of the shower head, so that was nice. The staff that checked us in were very snippy, although, it was almost 1am when we arrived. The cleaning staff did a good job. I was there during the 7.0 earthquake a few weeks ago, and the building didn't fall down... that's a win in my book, especially since I was on the third floor at the time.”

“George is so welcoming and always has taken care of my family and during the past 3 years my family and I have been staying there here and there. We had some bad financial problems and we were staying here at one point for a week or two and George as well as the rest of the staff are always more then friendly and welcoming. Knowing that George was there made me want to stay there even more because I knew that I would be satisfied with my room etc. This place is great and really the only thing they need to work on is the cockroaches. Not a fan of them at all but sometimes we had no where else to stay at.”

They've upgraded the outside but I would love to see them upgrade the bathrooms and carpeting. So a little decorations on the wall get rid of the old drab lamps. The customer service and the desk clerks are awesome they are very friendly and very happy to accommodate you. But now this is 2019 you have to upgrade please.”

“I booked the Duke Suite for my birthday. It was dark when I arrived so I couldn't see how beautiful this place was. It wasn't until the next day after this amazingly scrumptious breakfast that I was able to walk through the lovely gardens and inhale this place natural beauty. Even with snow dusting the ground this place still managed to shine. All the staff including the owners made me feel so welcomed. I really enjoyed this birthday getaway right down to the cake that was prepared for me and placed in the room so elegantly. This place is truly a hidden gem that I will most definitely recommend to anyone wanting peace and tranquility away from the norm. I really enjoyed my stay. Thanks Ron!”

But worth it to get away from it all. Management was friendly.”

Rooms are also spacious with amenities like coffee, tea, tv with so many channels, a sliding window with screen. Staff were very friendly and helpful but they are a little short handed. Outside there is a pool, hot tub and even a mini gold course. The lobby is very modern looking. During breakfast, it is complimentary and there is a great selection of different food.”
