Pretzel Festival Veterans Memorial Playground

Address: 75 N Walnut St, Germantown, OH 45327, USA

Museum

“LarderRoom...First time visiting Veterans Memorial Pretzel Festival in Germantown, OH. This town takes their Pretzels seriously. One of the vendors, a clear local favorite, had a continuous 3 hour line just to get a Pretzel. I love Pretzels but settled for a delicious grilled porkchop. It was amazing. Also tracked down some great beers and spiral Sliced (ribbon) fried potatoes loaded with cheese. Overall, it was a great time and for a good cause. I will certainly be coming back back! Note. Free admission. Beers $5. Food average $10-$15 and waters/Sodas $1-$3. Enjoy!”

Museum Restaurant

“Gorgeous historical site. Visiting this museum takes you back to the original time period (1895). Very beautifully designed and maintained, everything in this museum demonstrated the care in preserving the authenticity of the time period. Given the chance, I would highly suggest having High Tea in the Queens Parlor—very unique experience that will not disappoint. The food is delicious, the tea is impeccable and the service was beautiful and authentic. Would definitely visit again, overall a beautiful timepiece that displays history in an interactive, informative and awe inspiring kind of way.”

The Clark House

Address: 6332 Barcroft Mews Dr, Falls Church, VA 22041, USA

Museum

“Interesting Historic House to rent. Perfect for a unique get to gather when you do not have the space. The facility has a kitchen with rooms that can be set up for seating. Tables and chars are available at the facility. Both the main level and basement level are accessible with the largest room on the basement level. Personally, I would not use this facility for a wedding reception because of the distinct rooms would separate your guests. Something less formal it works great. Guests can wonder around talk and take in the historic photos on the walls. Current pricing is reasonable Base Fee (4-hours): $380 Extra Hours: $95/hour Alcohol Beverage Use Fee: $200 Security Deposit: $300”

“My husband and I decided to stop by two weeks ago and it was just LOVELY. It is a small place but the history is rich. We walked around freely and admired the scenery. It was so peaceful and quiet. There was a very nice lady dressed in period clothing who offered us free stew and bread and it was such a fun experience. We really had a great time.”

Boxcar Boutique Gift Shop

Address: 2933 Barrett Station Rd, St. Louis, MO 63122, USA

Museum

“I hadn't been here in years and it all came right back. Beautiful display and history of all kinds of transportation. The cars are absolutely beautiful. Interesting history of steam cars I actually had to scratch my head and say, what were they thinking. I loved going inside the trains and standing next to the larger ones really gives you a new respect for them. There was only 1 plane & one boat and I'm hoping they add to that mix. I believe that people have forgot this beauty of our history. It wasn't packed so it was nice to see & know you could visit history safely. Great place to visit for all ages.”

Danville Science Center

Address: 677 Craghead St, Danville, VA 24541, USA

“I took my little ones to the science center, and we had a blast! So many fun hands-on activities for the kids to do. My daughter especially loved building her own rocketship and race car. The playground area across the street was well maintained, and the train theme was really cool. It's fun for the big kids (adults), too! Will definitely go back next time we are in the area visiting family.”

Aldrich Coal Mine Museum Inc

Address: 137 Co Rd 203, Montevallo, AL 35115, USA

Museum

“I have been there on a couple of occasions. Once, I was bringing my nephews and recently I brought my granddaughters. They all seemed to enjoy the old company store and the mine exhibit. There is some cool memorabilia. The owner knows the interesting history of the mine and the family that owned it. I gave the museum 20$ for the two adults and four kids as the curator was not going to charge for the children. Otherwise, the sign says $5 for adults and $3 for children over 12. It is a short visit and only a few minutes from Montevallo. It is worth a visit if you are passing through the Montevallo area.”

“This museum is dedicated to all things Halloween, and everyone, from historians to kids, will come away with new knowledge about everyone's favorite spooky holiday. The devil is in the details and there are so many nuanced signs to read over at your leisure. I could have spent hours examining all of the haunted artifacts, brought in from real locations. Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum & Veterans Archives

Address: 1600 Phoenix Square, Hammond, LA 70403, USA

Museum

“Very informative museum. It is a work in progress, as most small private museums that I know of are. They have an event in June they are hoping to have more settled exhibits by then. There is a wealth of knowledge to learn here even now. I am glad I found this on the list of places documenting the African American Heritage Trail and I am glad I came. I would suggest this museum for everyone with the slightest inclination to learning about the past so it doesn't repeat itself.”

John Wayne: An American Experience

Address: 2501 Rodeo Plaza, Fort Worth, TX 76164, USA

“Great experience! As John Wayne fans, we enjoyed all the detail that was put into this exhibit. It is rich in history and well laid out. We purchased some John Wayne gear that we have not seen anywhere else. We were able to sit inside with my service dog and take a few minute break before moving on, and we appreciated that.”

Westland Historic Village Park

Address: 857 N Wayne Rd, Westland, MI 48185, USA

Museum

“The Westland Historical Village is an attraction that is both very useful and important. There are picnic facilities here and a nearby path. It is enjoyable to visit as a pass time. It is a wonderful backdrop to any outdoor party. Some of the buildings are available to hire for weddings and other events. The barn and two of the buildings are undergoing continuing renovations. The house referred to as the ‘Octagon House’ is a beautiful specimen of Americana. It brings back memories of small town American life which was actually big time. These were the homes of the people who owned and worked the land. They were homesteads and functional as well as being ‘home’ to the hard working families that lived in them and used them. The clapboard houses and wooden frames stand as testimony to the strong work ethic of the people who lived in them as well as the time honored and proven methods of construction. They are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It would be great to see modern architects, builders and craftsmen and women revisit these designs and materials to allow us to take advantage of these energy saving, attractive and useful structures in today’s developments. Inside the buildings are period pieces and inventions of the past. My favorite is the Eureka vacuum cleaner which sits quietly on of the porches. Eureka had its headquarters near here and was a leading manufacturer and inventor during its heyday. Along with the buildings is convenient parking and easy access from Wayne Road. It is well situated. The picnic tables and open space invite children, and everyone, to play and take their ease with hot dogs and towering glasses of lemonade in the summer months. During the cool of the year the houses and barns are back dropped by colorful leaf blankets from the nearby woods. The winter brings hot cocoa and marshmallows and the quiet and cold of a winter spent celebrating Christmas and all holidays during the turn of the year.”

They also have a neat personal collection of Leica cameras! It's handicap accessible and you'll need about 1.5 hours. This place has great art, in and outside, so go and enjoy!”

Wright B Flyer Inc.

Address: 10550 N Springboro Pike, Miamisburg, OH 45342, USA

Museum

“What a fantastic place! My wife and I expected yet another Wright Brothers museum, but instead got this nerdy-fun interactive experience with experimental aircraft designers, pilots, and enthusiasts. They have a museum, but it's more than that. They have built two Wright 'B' Flyers are "look alike" experimental aircraft, designed to look like the original Wright 'B' Flyer but with modern parts and systems so they are safer to fly (they also take passengers up for flights...though we're not sure how or when they do that). They have two aircraft: one that is FAA approved for flight, and the other is still being worked on. They let us climb up into the cockpit and experience what it's like/take some photos. All-in-all a wonderful experience and just the kind of place you'd want to explore in Dayton, Ohio... I feel like it's true to the spirit of the Wright Brothers' experimentation and flying in a way you can't get from just any museum.”

Great Plains Wing - Commemorative Air Force Museum

Great Art and artifacts, blueprints; Lessons in Science, Technology (know what plane put computers to work for the first time?), Engineering, and easy applications of Math are everywhere in our Hangar & Museum.
