“My brother and I just had an absolutely perfect day of fishing aboard the Riptide with Captain Smitty and his crew. We met a bunch of great guys that have been fishing with Captain Smitty for decades. It was easy to see why. Captain Smitty took us out and put us right on the king salmon. We limited out the boat by 11am and everyone took home two nice fish. The veteran fishermen were handing off their rods (and fish) after they caught their first couple to anyone that hadn't caught one yet. Everyone hauled in at least one. It was such a great atmosphere. We had an awesome time and I can't wait to go again.”

“Ketch is consistently a great place to eat! I have been eating here for years and cannot say I have ever had anything bad. The bar is friendly and reasonably priced. Other than always being busy, the service and accommodations are adequate. The food is a little "plain" , but good IMHO. I only hold back a star because of this and the seating is a little cramped. I reccomend the place and will be going back.”

“Great little seafood place by the pier. Delicious clam chowder, a bowl is very filling. Fresh fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Food is quick. In the back they have a crab boiler if you buy crab on the docks. They'll clean em and cook em for for you. Takes about 35-45 minutes.”

Captain Dew and Pablo are so knowledgeable of sport fishing and they really made our experience so enjoyable. “Wildlife views include pelicans, various other birds, crabs, an eel-like fish, and tiny sand critters that burrow in the sand. We went Sunday, and there are lots of people including international tourists. Many folks have un-leashed dogs even though signs clearly command leashes or fines! Everyone appears "normal" meaning there are no apparent homeless, mentally handicapped, or heavy drug users around. I feel safe, and I am a woman nearing 60. The beach is clean. Sand is fine and easy to walk bare footed. No one is in swimsuits. It is July 29 and the temperature is 63° at 5:25pm. I had Googled Maverick Beach and it placed me here. Parking is free, but crowded. All in all, it is a lovely place for a ten-minute or hours long walk, or a beach picnic--as many people do.”
