Bird Rock Waterfront

Address: 403 Sea Ridge Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA

Mission Beach Boardwalk | Ocean Front Walk

Address: W Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA 92109, USA

Park

“Love the area. Lived in the area 1968 to 1971. Revisited a number of times since. Always enjoy the vibe. Although during June you don't get the true California feeling because it tends to be cloudy and cool. We had two days of sunshine out of 8 days there but they were glorious! Always entertaining to people watch.”

Mission Beach

Address: 3000 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109, USA

San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge

Address: 6010 Hidden Valley Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91910, USA

Park

“This wildlife sanctuary is worth its admission. Parking is free and at the entrance to the preserve with a quick bus ride in. The docents and staff were fantastic and personable. They answered all of our questions and were great with kids. Bring a picnic lunch and water bottles as there is no food on site beyond snacks at the gift shop. There are plenty of picnic tables. The animal interactions and learning are top-notch. It was a fun half-day adventure with plenty of views and limited crowds.”

Santa Cruz Cliffs

Address: 5026-5028 Santa Cruz Ave, San Diego, CA 92107, USA

“I should only give it 4 stars cause personally I'm terrified of the ocean. But! It's a beautiful spot. Often see the green flash. And always send off any negative energy. Over all the best spot to meditate”

Ocean Beach Tide Pools

Address: 1779 Ocean Front St, San Diego, CA 92107, USA

“Nice place to watch the waves crash on the rocks. We saw lots of snails and crabs. Tips for OB tide pools: Check the local tide charts and go at low tide. Carefully walk down the stairs and over the slippery rocks. Take care not to step on the small clusters of sea snails on the rocks. Please do not take any animals from their home.”

Address: 11220 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92124, USA

Park

“Such a little gem in Tierrasanta! We've only been a few times, but it's hours of fun. There's not much shade and it fills up fast since there is a low capacity number. It's $3 per person I believe. Anyone under 4 has to wear a swim diaper. The water is no deeper than two feet and it's at a perfect angle for babies to splash in too. Can't recommend this place enough. There's plenty of parking that's shaded. There's a cute little park. So plenty to explore on a summer's day.”

Kwaay Paay Peak

Address: Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego, CA 92119, USA

Park

“Hiking is great exercise. This trail is unique in that it's relatively short and quick. An average person in good health can be up and down in an hour. But you'll want to spend time at the top enjoying the views! While most mountains and trails have switchbacks and some level areas, Kwaay Paay feels pretty much like you're just hiking straight up all the time. (Though there are a couple of flat spots to catch your breath.) There are areas with steps and other areas that are quite narrow. Be patient with yourself, take breaks, say hello to other hikers, watch for snakes, don't leave trash, and enjoy this short hike gem in Mission Trails Park!”

Climbers Loop South Trailhead

Address: 9051 Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, CA 92119, USA

“Short steep trail to climbing area. A small amount of scrambling on trail at base of climbs. Good trail and great view.”
